We wasn't going to get a car while we out there but we now thinking we will, where best place to go to get car hire? Is it best to do it from uk or wait to we are in Orlando.
I always book before we leave. Book, but DO NOT prepay. This allows you to check periodically and if a better deal or rate comes us, book it and cancel the original. Make sure you read the cancellation policy but never had a problem cancelling and have heard many others using this 'strategy'
We going 8th September fight lands 5.05pm so was looking 6.30pm pick up - 6th October fight leaves at 7.35pm so looking at dropping of at 5pm we looking drop off and pick up from the airport and just a small car to get the 2 of us around. Thank you
Prepaying might not mean you can't cancel if a better offer comes along. We booked and prepaid directly through Hertz in December with a discount code that ran out at the end of that month. I was looking the other day and the price had actually dropped, so I phoned up and they refunded the difference and I got to keep the discount as well. So Hertz let you change even if you've pre-paid and there wasn't an admin fee to pay either.

Thru this link you can get a small car for £407 less 8% cashback = £375 http://www.quidco.com/carrentals-co-uk/ The rental would be with Alamo thru eBookers.
Personally I would go with the SUV at £524 less 8% = £482. works out at £26/wk more but far more comfortable to drive and better driving position being higher up.
I had a quick read of T&C's, looks like £20 Fee to cancel but read to check.
I would always prepay.
most rental companies have a £0 cancellation fee. And quite often you get a better price when prepaying.
also, if your bank charges fees for currency payments, you will pay in GBP on the UK renter's website, instead of paying in ÛSD at the desk in Florida. Depending on the exchange rate it may or may not be in your favor. If you have bank fees on top of that, then it might even come more expensive than prepaying.
And last but not least.
When you prepay, you can stand your ground, and say you don't need anything else, except, maybe, the fuel tank. You've already paid, you just need the rental agreement and drive away. But if you're going to pay anyways ... it's an easy job for the rep. Don't make it easy for them
