Hi everyone :)

Can anyone recommend any cheap/reliable websites or other places to get reasonable car hire from?

We normally use Dollar direct or through Virgin but its looking pretty expensive

These are the only 2 we have used since a bad rental with Alamo 8 years ago.
They are usually very competative.

Thank you - so no problems with either of those two? No hidden catches/charges etc. They do seem much cheaper!

15 rentals with Airline Network, never a problem, This Easter is 1st time with USrentacar as they were £40 cheaper(free upfrade from Intermediate to Full size)
All 16 rentals thru these are/were with Dollar who we like, others prefer other companies.

Well I can't get a much better recommendation than that :rotfl:

Have just booked a rewards flight to Vegas back from LA for June so am pricing up the other bits and pieces needed lol. :)

Exactly same as we did last Oct, flew to vegas for 4 nights then to LAX, 5 nights in Disneyland area, incl day on Hollywood Blvd. Great trip.
Are you driving between to 2 or flying? we flew but would drive if we ever did it again. It was 38 min on the plane.
Drove to Grand Canyon, one of the highlights of my life. Sunday lunch buffet in the Bellagio was best lunch I have ever had.

Oh excellent! Any tips or must-dos in Vegas let me know!

We are flying into Vegas for 3 nights, then driving to San Diego for 2 nights then driving up to Disneyland for 8 nights (We are using DVC points in the Grand Californian) - hence the need for a car :rotfl:

I went to the Grand Canyon 11 years ago and as a stroppy teenager really didn't appreciate it lol - I'm not sure if it is out of the way or not, if not I'd love to go back!

I'm so excited as it has come completely out of the blue - the flights were there so we went for it !!

Thankfully our teenager was as interested as us, always has been the same. I can remember him age 7 in The Van Gough museum Amsterdam discussing the paintings, asking why he painted potatoes:confused3. One of my best memories was seeing his face when he 1st saw the Statue of Liberty age 8, thats all he had waited for for months.
Some kids appreciate these things others don't.
We just did all the usual tourist things in Vegas, Lions at MGM (great buffet lunch there also for about £8), M&M world, Coke shop, Saw Mamma Mia, Cirque show 'O'(not my cup of tea but DW liked it), White tigers. Looking around hotels like Caesers Palace, Venetian etc. couple of free outdoor shows were cancelled due to wind. DS did coaster around NYNY.
Drive out to Canyon was amazing, walked on the new glass walkway over the canyon. last bit of road is unmade about 10-15 miles of bumpy dusty road, Glad it wasn't my car, I gave it some hammer.
Will be back again sometime to do what we missed, rides on top of stratosphere, Circus at circus circus, Freemont experience plus lots more we just ran out of time.

I can assure you I tried to appreciate it ;) and I did think I was interested at the time, I just think I would view it differently now. I remember the trip well.......it was our first to the states and we were doing a fly drive tour which just basically left us time to get out of the car, say hello, and drive off again! oh how naive we were!

Yup, I think touristy things in vegas is a must.......although I don't think I can handle the rides at the top of the stratosphere :rotfl: too much for me, I am definitely looking forward to it, and am going to plan or organise as much as possible so we can make the most of our time there!!

thanks for the tips :)

Thankfully I have yet to find anything I have a fear of (not counting DW) DS has a fear of Snakes, DW its Birds and fish. I have no problems doing things like rides on top of buildings, I even considered a tandem skydive while we were there, it only costs about £75 in Vegas. Only thing that stopped me was DW, with us travelling onto LA she warned me if I broke a limb she would break another:rotfl2:

I'd also check Hertz I looked on their site for our dates in November, and it was about £70 cheaper than anyone else I could find for a Luxury car - around £260 compared to £330 for 2 weeks.

Just bumping this back up to say thanks again for the tips - we've booked with Airline Network, an Intermediate SUV for £240 - very competitive!!!

Wayne - I'll go on any Disney ride, but stick one on the outside of a tallllllll building and I've found my limit :rotfl: although a tandem skydive I could do, strange very strange ;)
