I am considering getting Happy Limo or similar to pick me up at the Sandford Airport - 2 adults and 1 child - and taking me to my hotel is Kissimmee and then picking me up again as will be arriving from the Uk for my first time to Walt Disney

The hotel I am going to - Travelodge MainGate East offers the complimentary shuttle bus to alot of the main attractions - so was wondering, should I then say get a car for 1 week - say 3 days after I arrive. I of course would need full insurance as I am from the UK.

Does anyone know who has Rental Places in Kissimmee - and is this a good cost effective idea. If it helps - I am staying at the Travelodge Maingate East.

Otherwise, I will possibly hire a car - do it before hand - and geta car for 2 weeks - booked via the web beforehand.

All advice appreciated.

I hope someone else also replies as i don't have direct experience. When offsite I've had a car.

Check it out on the car rental websites but it's usually much cheaper to rent a car by the week. That is 4 days may cost as much as a week. Try to keep it to just 7 days.

If you are going to rent a car anyway then probably cheaper to rent car at the airport (some car companies have shuttle to their nearby facility) and skip the towncar. (When onsite I use a towncar service)

So, should you rent at all? My understanding (no direct experience) is that off site shuttles run infrquetly and may be a hassle.

again, I hope someone else replies or I gave you a clue for a more specific questions.

Another thought. I assume you are staying off-site for the savings. Explore the discounts that came out yesterday. Perhaps a Value Resort is in your budget if you don't rent a car -- I find Disney transport pretty convenient. I would advise a Town car service to and from airport.

I am not familiar with the free shuttle services provided by some hotels. However, most will only take you to the Ticket and Transportation Center, and you will then have to change to some other transport to get to any of the parks.

Also, the shuttles run on THEIR schedule, not YOURS! If you miss one, you might have an hour (or longer) wait for the next one.

You might want to check with your credit card issuers concerning insurance on a car you hire in the US. I know that generally the Visa, Mastercard and American Express, Gold-level or higher, cards will provide rental coverage for up to 30 days.

you might want to check out the transportation forum
