Looking to book everything ourself, flying in at mco, which car hire/rental do you all use or recomend.

Thanks

This really is a personal preference thing. I will only use AVIS where as other only use Alamo, Budget, etc. and some will just price it up each time and go with the cheapest.

I will say one thing though, book it in advance and through the UK arm of the business. They always seem to be more 'up front' about charges and there seems to be more included in the initial rate (at least with AVIS).

On the few occasions we've rented when we got to the states we got quoted an initial price than had to pay through the nose for things that were supposedly 'legal requirements' but not included in the quote. The prices quoted by US sales people are usually more expensive as well.

Have you got any prices yet? post them along with dates and size car and we can look for anything cheaper.

I go with whoever is the cheapest, they all have good and bad cars, good and bad reps, all down to who you get on the day. Only one I try avoid is Budget, they tried giving me smaller cars than booked and they were older cars. Saying that if the price was right I would no doubt try thrm again. My fave is Dollar due to their Express system, saves me hours of standing in line.

Just got some quotes to compare our next trip. Oct 31st - Nov 10th Full size car

Avis £203 after 11% Quidco (after I changed the code to J046300, initial code QUIDCO gave was expensive)

Alamo\Brits (I always find expensive) £233.54

Cheapest I can in this link(15% off) find http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/othe...e/734198-holidayautos-discount-worldwide.html
Instrunctions in link how to get Quidco ontop, only 6% today but its been varying upto 15% recently.
This option would get me an Alamo car for £177.

we've booked through USrentacar for our next trip and we have used them before. We always find they offer a very good rate and you know all the costs up front.

I will have a look tomorrow (just going to bed for 4am start) but its a bit early to be pricing car rentl for next year yet, best deals are usually between 1-3 months of your flight.

I used to use them Tony but the last 1-2 years they have been a bit pricey, to compare the same deal as in my last post they would be £202, £25 more but they charge a fee to allow cancellations, other companies offer it free, it can come in handy especially if booking far ahead and then prices drop nearer your trip.
All companies I quote are fully inclusive up front.
