Either would be fine, i feel much safer in a larger car and parking is no problem as all the spaces are much wider and longer than what you get in the UK, the mini van is a similar size to a Ford Galaxy and the Int SUV is similar to a Rav 4 or Honda CRV, My friend loved the minivan we had this year and she's only been driving a year and drives a Ford ka at home!

We normaly rent a minivan, as we find them ideal for us.

However, we did get an SUV type last time from Dollar, a Chrysler Pacifica , picture attached - it was great and seems similar to what you are after.

Easy to drive plenty of room too.

America is designed for big cars/mini vans so don't feel intimidated by the size of your car. Car parking spaces would easily fit your choice.

I am sure you will be fine :goodvibes DH prefers driving the mini van type to a regular car.

the pacifica is what's known as a crossover (i think that's what they're called)....a cross between an SUV and minivan.....they're very popular now in the states...

SUVs, minivans and crossovers are all pretty easy to drive - they drive very much like cars (just bigger)...personally i prefer minivans and crossovers to big SUVs, but that's just my personal preference..

and yes, everything is big in the states (roads/parking) so you won't feel like you're driving an aircraft carrier.....
plus everyone else is driving a vehicle on steroids, so you'll fit right in...

at home i drive a honda jazz and would never consider anything bigger...
but in the states, i think i'd feel at risk driving anything that small....

the pacifica looks really nice, last year we had a problem with our hire from dollar the Chrysler voyager we had no no room for our cases.

is the layout inside any better for the pacifica?

We had a pacific last Christmas and I drove for the first time abroad - just never bothered before and let DH do it all :rolleyes1

Well, it was so easy to drive and not a problem to park etc. Found that no-one ever reverses if they don't have to :)

The boot space was big enough for our cases but can't quite remember how many large/small ones we took. Think it may have been 3 large and then all the hand luggage. There was enough anyway for our party of 2 adults and 2 kids.

It's not quite as big inside as a Voyager but definitely more sporty and nicer to drive.

There are just the 3 of us, but we had plenty of room in the boot for 3 large suitcases and hand-luggage.

The difference is the minivan is a 7 seater, the Pacifica roomy enough for 5.

We have 2 kids and go for the biggest car we can, usually a voyager but this time had a Ford Van that had two bench seats in the back and an enormous boot/space. It was so nice to just throw everything in the back when we were at the airport. All the cars over there are big so you are def in the majority if you have a big one. Our son has a wheelchair so at the end of a theme park day it was great to be able to put it in the back without having to collapse it. Great plus if you have a stroller as well especially if you are like us and have loads of bags piled on the back!:yay:
