We haven't booked carhire for our trip and weren't going to bother but I'm starting to think it might be a good idea just to escape from Disney occassionally - hmm!

Anyway was just looking on alamo and it gives you the option to hire a booster seat or a child seat (age2-5) - our son will be 15 months so I'm thinking neither of these match the requirements. Am I right? We're flying in from Scotland and he's booked on as an infant so won't have a seat on the plane so I'm not wanting to trail his car seat.

Take it with you. You can buy covers for them from Kiddicare (and probably other places but that is where we got ours) and put the carseat in the hold with the luggage. I attached a sign saying carseat please handle with care.

1. The carseats you hire are terrible, and unclean, no body ever knows how to put it in correctly, they will not give you any assistance. (that has been our experience.) I hired one once and a piece of glass fell out of it as I took it to the car.

2. They are so expensive, you could buy a new one for the price it costs you to hire it.

Yes it adds more to your luggage but we have never had them included in our luggage allowence. We just picked up our bags put them on the trolley and then fitted the carseats ourselves and being ours when had no worries putting them in.

Actually the last time I strapped one of the kids in and then wedged it on the trolley got out of the airport faster than I ever had. LOL.

I would also bring yours with you. Most airlines do not count it against your luggage total as it's an assistive device. You know how to properly use it, your dd fits in it, and you know the history of your own seat. Also, the car rental companies do not guarantee the seat you need will be available at the time you rent the car. Having your own is the only way to go, imo.

Thanks guys! Will take your advice if we decide that car hire is the way to go. Our car seats are great and do fit really easily in any car (even my shiny new mini :goodvibes - sorry I got my car 2 days ago and am in love - lol!)

Thank you.
