Afternoon, not sure if this has previously been posted, but Hertz are currently offering 30% off car hire to Florida in 2013, reservations have to be booked by the 19th Nov quoting CDP 758672 (exclusions feb 13-23 & march 25-31)
Quidco are also offering 10% discount :thumbsup2

Works for me, go on the uk site, click special offers & the 30% off option appears, no need to enter the code, hope this works!
 
Great, thank you it works. I was just trying to enter the code rather than going to special offers. Got a great rate £419 for a 4x4 for 22 nights from 22nd July plus 10% Quidco hopefully. They have quite a good cancellation or change policy so that gave me confidence also. I usually rent through usrentacar but they wanted £470 and no cash back so am very happy.

That is how we booked it. Have got a 7 seater mini van for 3 weeks next July for £405.
 
Just make sure you compare with another site (such as USRentacar) to make sure it definitely is a saving. I have just compared a week's hire next November and there is very little (not even a couple of ££) between Hertz and USRentacar and, for some vehicle types, USRentacar is cheaper.

I checked our dates for Easter this morning when Karen sent me a PM, £205 less 10% Quidco = £184.50. USrentacar for exactly the same dates, same car £294.00

Just hope prices don't increase before I get home.
 
I have checked for our rough dates in Sept 11 & got a great price for an SUV. :-)

Does anyone know how much they charge for an extra driver & what their canx/change policy is as although we have dates in mind & 11 days out of 14/5 booked we haven't so booked our flights yet!!!

Additional Authorized Operators Fees

USD 13.00 per day, maximum USD 91.00 per rental, for each Additional Authorized Operator.


cancellation policy:
CANCELLATIONS
1. Hertz will allow customers to cancel a prepaid reservation:
a. online by the 'Modify/Cancel' reservation page
b. by calling the Internet Helpdesk

2. A full refund of the prepaid reservation will be made:
a. If the cancellation is made within 7 days of the original booking time;
b. Less an administrative fee of £UK30 if the cancellation is made after 7 days of the original booking time

3. Refunds will be made to the credit card that the original booking was made on.


changes policy:

CHANGES TO RESERVATIONS
1. Hertz will allow customers to make changes to a reservation:
a. Online by the 'Modify/Cancel' reservation page
b. By calling the Internet Helpdesk

2. No modification administration fee will be made for changes made online. Hertz reserves the right to charge an administration fee for changes made by calling the Internet Helpdesk.

3. Any change made to a booking made online or through the call centre will be recalculated based on the availability and prices at the time the change is made. This may be greater or lesser than the price originally booked. This applies to changes made to:
a. Drop off location
b. Pick up date and time
c. Drop off time and date
d. Car group
e. Airline and flight number
f. Neverlost
g. Child seats
h. All other additional products

4. The lead customer name and the pick up location on a reservation cannot be changed. If a customer wishes to change the lead name or the pick up location, then they must cancel the reservation (see terms and conditions for Cancellations) and make a new reservation.

5. The customer will be asked to enter a valid credit card number at the end of a change to a prepaid reservation. This MUST be the same credit card that was used for the original reservation. If the customer wishes to change the credit card, then the original reservation must be cancelled (see terms and conditions for Cancellations) and a new reservation made.

6. If no cars are available for the location and date requested, then the customer will see the message: 'No cars available at this location for this date or duration'. The customer should try to change the dates or location for pick up.

7. If no prepaid rates are available for the location, date or other requests made, the customer will see the message: 'No prepaid available'. If the customer sees this message, they may cancel the original reservation (see terms and conditions for Cancellations) and make a new reservation if a non-prepaid rate is available.

8. CDP: A CDP code can be added to a reservation. However, there may be circumstances in which this CDP code is linked to a negotiated discount or rate that does not match Hertz retail prepaid rates. In this circumstance, the customer will see the error message: 'No prepaid available'. The customer may cancel the original reservation (see terms and conditions for Cancellations) and make a new reservation adding the CDP number.

9. #1Club or Gold numbers cannot be added to an existing reservation online.

The dates are included, however I don't tend to factor in cashback when i am comparing prices since it's not a given. Although I priced up the one-day rental we need at the beginning of our holiday and Hertz was over £20 cheaper for the one day and that rate included a tank of fuel so I have done a 1-day booking to get us from the airport to the port on our arrival day.

I do prefer Hertz's refuelling options to those with Dollar or Budget (where you either buy the Gold cover which includes a tank of fuel or you pre-pay a tank at extortionate rates), so that may influence me in their direction for the last week anyway. We won't be booking now though as the holiday isn't till November and there are no guarantees, given DH's job sitatuion, so wouldn't want to pre-pay a significant amount at the moment.

A great deal for those of you who are saving money though - hope the prices remain till you get home Wayne.

It was all looking soo good until I read you can't change your arrival airport :-( without cancelling & rebooking.

As we will just book into wherever is cheapest it's a bit of no go at the moment.

I got my Quidco tracking confirmation about 20 minutes after I booked which I am always relieved about. £41.60 so I am really pleased. Can't believe my whole holiday next year is nearly already paid. Just wish it wasn't nearly 9 months away.

Do you need to queue at a desk in MCO and then collect car from garage outside, can you do on line check in alike to Dollar/Alamo and simply by pass the airport desks and proceed to the garage?

We used them this summer, picking up at Miami and dropping off at Tampa. I joined the Gold club (found a link online for free membership) and we got a free extra driver. Walked straight to car having seen my name on the board in the garage, keys were in and away we went, very good and have booked again for this summer picking up at Orlando. I paid on arrival for fuel, think it was about $73 for a 7 seater minivan and thought the toll pass was very convenient as well, thumbs up from me :thumbsup2

Hertz are probably the best car rental company to rent from, taking into account quality of both service and cars but they are rarely the cheapest, since I started renting cars in 1993 to today this is only the 2nd time I have known them be the cheapest for me, the 1st time was a price error.
 
ok cool, it must have changed. last time we rented with Hertz was awhile ago (2007) and we had to take a shuttle then. nice that they are on site now.
