Hi all,

Does Alamo/National carry the same rates at the Car Care Center as elsewhere in Orlando (the airport, for example), or do the prices carry the "Disney Premium"?

Was thinking of not renting a car for a full week next trip and just renting a car onsite for a few day trips off grounds.

Thanks!

We normally rent through the Car Care Center using a discount code from BJs (seems to be better sometimes than Alamo Insider). We spend less money getting the car from the CCC than if we picked up from MCO. The gas station is attached so it makes it easy to fill the tank, too.

Keep in mind that weekly rates are normally less expensive than renting for a short period of time, which is where you would probably see a pricing difference.

Last time we rented the car center was cheaper than MCO. We we went thru
Costco.

I’d price it out and see. There’s no hard and fast rule with car rental rates except they change ALL the time.

Check your dates. And remember to add in the price of getting to another Alamo/national location.

The only absolute with car rentals is that there are no absolutes.

In the car rental world, it's rare for prices to be the same across multiple locations within the same geographic region. Different locations will have different customer bases. Additionally, the required taxes and fees added by the airport or location (hotels typically add a fee when they give space to a car rental firm for an on-site desk) mean that the base rate can be identical but the final price can vary greatly based on pick-up location.

So, the prices at the Orlando International Airport (MCO) might be wildly different than prices in the Walt Disney World area.

The three Alamo/National locations at Walt Disney World are one of the rare exceptions. Despite being geographically spread out, the three locations tend to have similar, if not identical pricing. This happens because all three locations are operated by the same people.

If unfamiliar, the three Alamo/National locations are:
  • Disney Car Care Center: Magic Kingdom area. Has free shuttle.
  • Walt Disney World Dolphin: Boardwalk area. Easy walk from several Disney Resorts and Epcot.
  • Hilton Buena Vista Palace: Across the street from the Marketplace section of Disney Springs.

Thanks for all your replies. This will potentially be the first time I go to the CCC-- I didn't even know it existed before a few days ago. How convenient is it to get back and forth from there from a DVC resort like OKW, for example? And upon returning the car, is there a shuttle to the airport from the CCC?

Tend to, but not always. My trip in February was the first time dolphin and ccc were the same for my days

To pick up the car you need to schedule the ride at least 24 hours in advance.

After dropping it off you tell them where you’re going and they get a shuttle for you. There can be a wait.

The shuttles will get you from and/or take you to certain spots at any Disney location. So they pickup and drop off at the Lost and Found area at TTC. From the front of hotels. A certain spot at Disney springs. Etc.

They do NOT shuttle you to the airport. Either give yourself time to be shuttled back to your resort for magical express, OR take Lyft or a cab there.

Unless I’m returning the car to the airport, I generally drop off the car the day before departure, because I don’t need it that evening or the last day.
