Car care center question

I asked this in another of the forums but thought since DVC people are at WDW more often, maybe someone here can help me.

Has anyone had to use the car care center? Is it reasonably priced? We are on our way to WDW from OH and the car a/c is having lots of problems (runs, then dies, then runs again and dies). I am hoping to make it to WDW and have it fixed rather than be stuck in GA a day or two but am wondering if I'm better to use the car care center or another place in Orlando. Any suggestions?

Hi, have no idea what they would charge to fix your A/C. We rented a car for one day in May from them and it was $25 plus taxes and extra if you need to take out insurance. I think it was $45 for us.

Reasonable for car rental. Let's hope reasonable for repairs! My son thinks it may be the a/c compressor.

I had no idea until now that they were anything but a car rental place.

I personally would probably make a different thread asking about Orlando mechanics that are good and reasonable, because that might get you better info about what you need.

Bear in mind this was about 6-8 years ago.

We ran into problems with our minivan about 300 miles away from WDW. Check Engine light came on and the van started shuttering if we went over 60 MPH. Below that it seemed to be running OK so we just kept on driving. It was before dawn in the Bible Belt on a Sunday, so I didn't think stopping to find a mechanic was really an option.

Made it to WDW and took the vehicle to the Car Care Center. They quickly diagnosed the problem as a blown cylinder and had parts & skill to repair. About 4 hours later, all was resolved. They charged us $300. I know very little about cars but the price seemed surprisingly reasonable to me. We were AAA members and I think they run the CCC, so that may have had a good influence on the pricing.

I'm pretty sure the Car Care Center is still an AAA approved car service shop. AAA does not run the shop though. I've had work done there a few times over the years, though it's been quite a few years since I've had work done. I was very pleased with the service and price.

DS is a WDW CM. His car AC line was blocked so he took it to the Car Care Center but never mentioned that he is a CM. They flushed the hose, got everything cleaned out and didn't charge him anything.

We ended up at a Midas that someone on the boards recommended on Orange Blossom Trail and they did a great job! Got us fixed up and on the way. Thank you everyone for all of your help.
