car broken down *UPDATED*

well, after losing the mot certificate and then having to get a duplicate one yesterday-cost me £10 and then getting the car tax sorted( i know its nearly a week late!), got in my car this morning and it wouldnt work
had green flag out and they say the starter motor has gone they have now taken it to the garage. so now i cant get into work! all i can do is
oh and also got loads of ironing to do.

finally got my car back yesterday at 5.30pm along with a huge bill...
£427.00 and on top of this was another £72 to green flag for the call out charge, and then 2 days pay i have lost for not being able to get to work.

Oh Netty, that's awful, I hate cars they're such a money pit. Especially when theres much nicer things to spend it on, like Disney, shoes, Disney, clothes, disney, food

Had similar problem the other week, car wouldn't start, early journey to work. Had to join AA over the phone, cost a fortune. Only needed new battery.. how annoying. DW at home at present DS not very well, she has had to take time off work look after him. I work 200 miles from home commute weekly, pain the backside. Looking forward to finishing current position, then need to look for new job. Still holiday booked and paid for. Disney here I come August 14th.......

my car is still in the garage the fly something has gone and the starter motor and so the gear box and clutch will have to come out.

oh netty so sorry about car, i dont know what id do without mine, we own a scrapyard. (car dismantlers) have you throught of buying parts second hand from a scrapyard near you. might save you some money. garages will only buy brand new and add vat. we only charge £10-20 for starter motors.
just a idea.

hope the bill aint to much.

Thanks Kizzi, i just cant get to a scrap yard, dh works away most of the time and i dont have a car!! my car is a ford escort about 7 years old(has the customary disney ariel topper and also a tinkerbell sticker on the back window )
it should be ready today,fingers crossed.
