I have a question about this. My two nephews are flying to Florida with us. They are 4 and 6. What are the car seat laws in Florida? What age do you have to be to just be buckled in?

We are using the ME to the resort but getting a rental car after 3 days cuz' we are going to spend the next 5 days at my dad's house. I was just wonder what the law was and if they really needed the seats.

If they do need them does ME send enough tags that you could check them and say a suitcase for each of them?

Thanks for any help!

They should both be in a car seat depending on their hight and weight not their age... regardless to the laws, i would still have both of them in a car seat it's what safest for them, and with some of the crazy drives and stuff why take the chance...

We'll be flying with our 3 and 6 year olds and then renting a car and I am bringing both our booster seats for the car. We have the ones that don't have a back (can't think of the brand) so they're not too bulky. I'm just going to buy a duffel bag to put them in along with any other oddly shaped things. It's not required by law (at least in texas) but it's strongly recommended that kids be in boosters until they are 80 lbs. I don't know if theres a height requirement that goes along with it. Smaller than 80 lbs and whatever height and the seatbelt does not sit across their body properly and will not protect them in a crash. I'm not judging you, this is just what I've learned as I've read about child safety for my kids.

Thanks, they are both in booster seats around here, same thing as texas they also strongly recommend them and we will probably be bringing them but I was just wondering about the law and also wondering about how many ME tags that they will be sending to us so that between the 7 of us going we can make sure we have enough to check them in, the type of booster seats they sit in are the one with the backs and the last time we tried to use them on the plane they said that they were not Airplane approve. So we had to check them. That really is my main concern that they actually get to our room, as we will not need them until we rent the car on the 4th day.

I actually researched this. Age 6 is the cutoff. However, I still bring one for my DD who is almost 8, due to her size.

I keep a luggage tag on my boosters and check them. We have never had a problem.
