Car/booster seats

Has anyone dealt with car seats while doing port adventures? I was told we wouldn't need car seats while using Disney transportation, but I would like to hear from people who have been there before.

We have cruised while my youngest was 3 and 4. We went on port adventures both cruises and did not bring a car seat either time. We either walked to a ferry boat, rode on a charter bus, or rode on an open air bus. No need for car seat on any of these.

We typically haven't done excursions where it was just a regular car in port so we haven't brought one either. BUT we knew we'd need one on a land trip and took the bubble bum instead. She was 6 at the time so an older kiddo but this worked well. They are compact and worked great for our situation. Just a suggestion!
