Please, those with experience, help me decide where to stay! Looking at moderate hotels.

Of those choices, I like Car Beach best, but that's just an opinion. I don't think you will be disappointed at any of those.

what do you like about it? Can you give me some pro's and con's? How is the transportation, room size, etc.

Who are you traveling with?? I think that makes a big difference whether you have small children or not.az

Good question, I'm traveling with my husband, our three daughters (all under age 10) and my parents.

We love CBR. I suggest you take a look at the FAQ thread. It was great when my kids were smaller and they still love it today.

I have stayed at all three of them, and all of them are very nice with their own pros and cons. Out of the three, my favorite is the POR. It seems a bit more peaceful than the other moderates to me. If you plan on spending time at Downtown Disney, there is a boat that goes there, which is fun and convienient. You can also get a room with a trundle bed, which would allow five people to sleep in the room. In the CBR and the CSR, there can only be four in a room.

The CBR is my second favorite out fo those three. I just stayed there for a couple of nights last month (me second stay there). It seems a bit more spread out than the other moderate resorts. I don't like that the guest relations and check in area is seperate from the rest of the resort.

The CSR is also a beautiful resort, but there were a couple of things about it that keep me from returning there. The rooms don't seem as soundproof as the other moderates. We could hear our neighbors TV and talking (and they weren't yelling or anything). We could hear the footsteps of the people in the room above us. I never heard a neighbor at the other moderates. I also do not like the way they run the food court at the CSR. They have a host who seats you, will get your drink for you, and clears your table. You get your own food. For the services of the hosts, they tack on 10% to your bill. With a family of five, that will really add up.

All that being said, my favorite moderate is the Port Orleans French Quarter, and when that reopens, it will be hard for me to stay anywhere else. I find the size of this resort a lot more managable, and the pool is fantastic. I have stayed at this resort more than any other resort on Disney property (I've stayed about about 10 different resorts over the years), and this is the only one I've been completely satisfied with.

The differences at the moderates are Pepper Market at CSR which has been described above. And boat to downtown at POR. Look at pictures and decide which theme is more to your liking. I have stayed at all and prefer POR the landscaping is beautiful. None would be a bad choice just pick whatever appeals to your family.

As far as moderates go we prefer Riverside. I feel it is not as spread out and the transportaion to DD disney is really neat (boat)
I would suggest asking for the Mansion section (magnolia) I like it becasue it feels brighter tehn the bayou. (Only my opinion :))

What time of the year are you going? We stayed at POR in the bayou section twice in the summer and really enjoyed it. The llandscaping made if feel a bit "cooler" than the high 80s it really was. Our DSs were about 10 and 11 last time we were there and they loved the pool. I thought the food court offered a wide variety of items. Once we were in a building quite far from the main building but it was only a 5 minute walk.....and a beautiful, peaceful one at that!!!

We are staying there again this summer after our cruise.

Although we are DVC owners, we base our stays on the "mood" for the theming!!

tnkrbll.....where was that picture taken???

With 3 children, your only option is Port Orleans Riverside for a moderate and that is if one of your kids is small enough to be comfortable in a trundle bed. Unless you were planning on getting 2 moderate hotel rooms for your family. I am going with 2 connecting rooms at Pop Century for this trip for our family of 5. Good luck and know that no matter where you stay in Disney, you are going to have a blast!

When we go Jan 23 to Jan 27, I am staying at POR. I have never stayed there before but did a lot of research. It has a great pool. The full service restaurant, even though inadquent for the size of the resort, has gotten good reveiws. I am going off season so it should be to crowded
I have also heard good things about Cor. Springs. However, I heard one not so good thing, it is a convention property (disneys only). People felt uncomfortable when there were people walking around in suits and they were in shorts. They felt it took away from the magic.

All 3 are great. It depends on what you're looking for in a resort. Small, large, type of theme. We've always enjoyed staying at CSR. You can check it out at my website below. Good luck!

ps - CSR is not Disney's only convention resort...only at the moderate level. Cont, GF are also covention resorts.

CSR THREAD

We've stayed at POR and CBR, so here are my opinions on them:

POR - loved the boat to DTD, food court was great, pool was a bit shabby, but that was over a year ago, haven't they remodeled it or something? We stayed in 1st floor Mansion, but relatives stayed in Bayou - I loved the Bayou, wasn't all that impressed with Mansion. If we were to stay there again, I'd definitely request the Bayou. Bus service was OK, but we shared with POFQ, and the return trips just seemed so long! (Of course, POFQ is closed now, so bus route is different!)

CBR - bigger rooms, great sandy beaches, food court was OK (but has been redone since we were there!) loved the walk in the morning around the lake to get tea/coffee. CBR is a huge resort, so it's very important to request an "Island" near the food court if you don't want a long walk. We love Aruba/Jamaica, because the girls loved walking over the bridges/island dancing to the calypso music!

you all are awesome, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your opinions, it's been very helpful!
