Camcorders, phone cameras, and digital cameras...oh my.

I'm the official photographer of the family. I bring my camcorder and DSLR to the parks [of course I've got my phone with me too].

What do you bring to your Disneyland vacations? And do you take it to the parks every single day? Has it changed throughout the years? Or do you just enjoy the moment and not capture videos/pics?

I'm just wondering if I want to lug around the both camcorder and DSLR along with water bottles, sunscreen, wallet, etc.

What do you do?

I am not very tech savy so I mainly just use the camera phone that way if its a good pic I can email it out!

The first day of my first mom-and-kid Disneyland trip, I took my phone w/ camera, a Flip-style video camera, and a regular digital point-and-shoot camera. I used, mainly, the p&s digi, as it was what I was used to.

Day 2, the phone stayed at the hotel. We didn't have anyone to call, and, of the cameras, it was the lousiest. I bounced back and forth between the wannabe-Flip-cam and the p&s digi.

Day 3, I found that the wannabe-Flip was, shockingly, the winner from all sorts of angles. It was a video camera, so I could ask silly interview questions (DD was 8yo, so old enough to really talk/share her views). It also had a p&s option that took great pictures. Most of the night-time pictures I took were on the wannabe-Flip, because it really out-performed the regular, dedicated p&s camera. Oh, did I mention it was only $20, so if I lost it, I would be sad, but only out $20! Woo hoo, because I lose random things like a hooker loses... oh, wait, this is a family board. My wannabe-Flip was $20. It took good pictures. Yay for it.

Day 4, the p&s and the phone stayed home (well, at the hotel). I was in love with the wannabe-Flip still.

I'll admit I'm not a good photographer at all. My dad didn't apparently pass that talent on to me :( But... I was pleased with my cheap $20 wannabe-Flip (I think it's Vivitar, I got it at Big Lots), and got pictures that I love showing off :)

your wannabe-Flip sounds fabulous. My DSLR is older so it doesn't have video capability. If it did, I could just take that. My camcorder can take pictures but it's older as well and it's video is waaaaaaay better than the picture it takes. I should somehow sell both and upgrade to one thing.
Thanks for sharing!

I have a Cannon PowerShot SD1100 IS. It is a few years old and is a great little camera. The pictures are nice and clear AND it does video too so no need to drag around another camera. It fits in my tiny purse and I love it. It takes better quality photos than my phone so I don't use my phone for pictures except to send a quick message to someone. Plus I'd have to pay to send my photos off my phone and I take too many for that.
