OK, I have a question regarding the Capture the Flag game. I continue to play this game hoping that I will get better after much practice, and I do see a little improvement now, although still having trouble figuring out which side of the ship to shoot out of... LOL!

Anyways, I accidentally clicked on the "flag" button on the bottom of the screen one time which made me drop the flag. I am wondering if the other team had had their flag at the same time, would they have dropped theirs too? I guess I am curious as to WHY that button would be there? :confused3 What would the advantage be in using it? There's got to be some importance to it or a way to utilize it in strategy; otherwise; what's the point of having that little flag button? :confused3

Any pirate experts out there that have played around with this button? pirate:

I believe that button is there so that in case you are stuck somewhere you can drop the flag and let your team mate pick it up. Or if you have the flag, but your team mate has a faster ship you can pass the flag off to them. pirate:

If I ever get logged into the game, we can find some other friends and play around with it and see what all it does.

I don't know.

I'm STILL trying to figure out what the scrub brush looking icon on the bottom of the window means? And how people can play pirates and talk to each other at the same time, and scream at me for not talking to them; I need both hands for the game.

LOL :rotfl2: I don't usually talk other than the two letters gl before we can move or after I'm dead, and I try not to talk too much because then the ppl can't see where the health and bombs are. pirate: It's really obnoxious when people start getting rude either with their own team-mates (and I do get irritated with my own sometimes, like they're purposely trying to let the other team win going in circles in lala land) OR calling the other team names. It's a GAME, for FUN!

Now, I always thought it an odd shape, and scrub brush does fit the description, but I believe that signifies the amount of Gold you capture or have left on your boat. If you're hit once you lose 5, if you die, they get half, and vice versa. Each round starts fresh. At least I think that's how it works.

I never knew the flag button meant anything, at least I wasn't venturous to try it.

I usually just say 'gl' right before the game starts, and then some little words of encouragement after I get sunk. I hate getting yelled at the in game that I'm wasting time or that I need to hurry up. hello..I need to repair my ship or get more ammo!!

Like FlyingPegasus said if you go in and get the flag with a big ship and get all shot up you can drop the flag and a team mate with a fresh and faster ship can pick it up and head for Victory! I do not see it used alot but her other reason I have used before if you get stuck on the rocks. You can just toss the flag overboard to a teammate pirate:

There's a flag button??? :confused3

Honest, really? didnt know that! :lmao:

EDIT: Hey! Maybe it stops your boat from going in circles! No clue. Never used it. Sorry - cant help.

also can be used to drop the flag closer to your base and go chase the other if you can and are the only one left. since closer to base or actually touching the flag seems to draw a win over not touching it. so if the one team gets the flag and imediatly sinks and then the other player on the team is also sunk but your team never touches the flag - you lose even though you killed them. not sure if this has to do with gold collected or what, since you get paid mere for coming in contact with the flag i beleive.

Being a lover of Pirates ;)

AdventureDaz is right on the money, took me a while to figure that out but it is usually the case.

For really big credits win or lose in Capture make sure your team has touched that flag. still having it when the other team gets home is better you get 32 credits instead of 0.

I have lost a capture game before and still earned close to 200 credits. Can not remember the extact amout but it was more that 150 and less than 200.

My hint if you can do it and the other team is not too fast try to hang back a second or two and then pick your direction.

I was so busy checking out all the new scenery and making sure I didn't steer into rocks to even look at the bottom of the screen. Never noticed the flag button and I dont' even care to know what the scrub brush is for! :rotfl2: I'm logging in right now to play though so I can check it out! :thumbsup2

Ahhh, yes that makes more sense now. I never quite understood the points system, or why sometimes the team that got blown up would win a stage. Thanks for clearing that up. :thumbsup2

As for the flag button, I've noticed it, but never touched it. I was afraid of what it might do. :)

i manage to get in "good work me hearties" after a win

I'm in the pirate game lobby the other day and a few kids are talking about their rooms and how many they have and what they do in them.

Then it turns out I'm in the battle game with most of them. They continue to talk about their rooms during the game while also playing. I didn't really mind but I was just amazed they could play and talk at the same time. Then one of them asks me how many rooms I have. I don't answer because I have one hand on the mouse and one hand on the arrow keys, plus the keyboard is turned so I can't easily reach the letter keys anyway. Then they all start yelling at me to talk to them. :p :rolleyes2

I can't even tell them I can't talk to them. But I did yell at the computer. :lmao:

I think of the flag button as being a way to "pass the baton" in a relay race. I've never played capture the flag in real life but I believe passing the flag to another player is part of the game strategy.

If the other team doesn't have a clue about the flag button, they will continue to chase you (thinking you have the flag). Meanwhile, your team mate takes the flag to your home base.

The reasons listed in other posts are great reasons to use the button too.

lol! this post made me laugh out loud. Something like that has happened to me while playing Haunted Mansion!!! Everyone was SOMEHOW talking AND playing and thought I was rude for not talking. I don't understand how people do it, honestly! Though I did end up throwing a few swear words at my computer screen since all the talk bubbles were distracting me from catching ghosts for the quest i was on :rotfl2:

LOL, in all honesty, most of the time I wish that there WAS no chat interface in games...I don't like people insulting the way I'm playing, and if there's too much talking going on the bubbles get in the way of the screen when I'm trying to see what I'm doing. I also have no idea how people can manage to carry on a conversation and play at the same time. I need my left hand on the arrow keys and my right hand on the mouse at all times or else I go KABOOM real fast! So if anyone out there plays with me and I don't talk, don't be offended! :rotfl:

this thread is so funny, thanks cat! for pirates, i can see how they can move the ship and fire using just the mouse, and maybe typing with their left hand, but for haunted mansion, i dunno, that game is such a wil ride with either the keyboard or the mouse, i just lead with the mouse pointer and constantly jam on the control button, so i don't have time to type, but yeah, let's not do any push's trash talk in game please

All right, I was able to experiment with this button yesterday while playing with friends. I was hoping it would drop BOTH flags, but no, just your own. Gr! I'm still trying to figure out the purpose of this. I know many of you have said to use the button to pass the flag to a team mate. BUT that means you would have to have an IM chat window open with your team mate(which I usually do anyways), but gee, by the time you stop your boat, type to your team member that you are going to drop the flag and to come pick it up, then actually drop the flag and move out of the way, and wait for your team mate to pick it up, you have just wasted about 5 seconds or more!! You could be that much closer to base if you didn't go through all of that... :confused3 Soooooo, still trying to figure out a way to use it, or perhaps I am WAY overthinking this.... LOL! pirate: pirate: pirate:

LOL, omg I can't imagine how much of a nightmare it would be if BOTH flags dropped at the push of that button. It would be so unfair and not to mention heavily abused! :rotfl2:
