Ok, I was reading an old post on the board & it really panned Captain Jack's. Does everyone agree that it's gross & terrible? Give me your opinion! If majority rules I think I will change my ADR.

We went there last December. It was a REALLY rainy cold night and there were huge waits everywhere we checked. There was no wait at Captain Jacks (which I guess I should have taken as a sign...But I thought "not everybody likes fish."). It was not a cheap meal in any way. The service was not great. By not great, I mean we had to remind our waitress to bring us our drinks. She forgot parts of our meal and didn't check back with us at all after she finally delivered everything to see if we even were statisfied. Our meals were cold. But since we couldn't seem to find our waitress or any other wait staff to ask to have the food reheated, we suffered through it and then stopped at the snack area of our resort before we went to our room. On a side note, the weirdest WDW experience we have had occured at Captian Jacks that night. Since the restaurant was pretty much empty, we could hear a couple's conversation clearer than we would have liked. They were a few seats away and it apparently was a "business deal" between a man visiting Orlando for a convention and a "woman of the night". I have to admit, it made my husband and I blush. We tried to focus our attention on our cold fish instead.

I have heard people bash Captain Jack's here several times, but I have to say that it is one of our favorite places to eat and always a "must-go" whenever we are in Disney. I have NEVER had a bad experience there and always found the food to be excellent. In fact, I prefer Captain Jack's to Fulton's, which I found to smell musty/mildew-y and have only average food.

I give Captain Jack's 10 thumbs up.

I am always amazed at all the negative reviews I read about CJ's. We ate dinner there twice on our last trip. We absolutely loved it. The food and the service was perfect. Yes, it was quiet there and it was also very clean. We are planning to eat there again on our next trip in November.

Maybe you should give it a try and see for yourself if you like or dislike it....

I've eaten there a few times over the years. It isn't a "must do" for me, but I've enjoyed every meal I've had there. If the menu appeals to you, try it and form your own opinion.

Consider yourselves lucky you weren't charged extra for the "floor show".;)

We have ate there many times in the past and never had a bad experince. For DTD it is good, however it isn't cheap. (mostly over priced for what you get.)

We have always had good service and food. It has been a year or so since we have been there.

It is gross, nasty, and bad. However, I've reading more positive reports lately, so perhaps Disney has fired the restaurant's chef and hired a staff worthy of the lakeside location and nostalgia it inspires (this is the only restaurant remaining from the old WDW Village Marketplace).

We went to CJ's way back in 1994. We still make fun on how bad experience it was. I remember the chairs at the tables didn't match and wobbled. The soup we ordered seemed like they poured tons of salt in it. To us we couldn't believe this place was on Disney's property. But someone must like it. The place has survived.

We returned from 10 days at the World in September. We had not planned to eat at Cap'n Jacks before we arrived but ended up adding them in on the first Sunday of our stay. Our food was great. The crab cakes were wonderful. I must add also that my husband & I are not huge "FISH" fans and wanted to give it a try. We hesitated quite a while before entering CJ but after our meal - we were very glad we tried CJ's. We even rearranged our schedule so that we could go back later in the week.

We will eat again on our next trip. The lobster from the surf & turf was much better at CJ's than LeCelliar. I almost did not order S&T at CJ's because of the lobster I had at LeCelliar a couple nights before - don't get me wrong - LeCelliar's was great but the lobster left a lot to be desired. I could barely get it out of the shell. It just made me make mental note to just order steak next time at LeCelliar than the S&T - the steak was fantastic & made up for the lobster.

Give it a try - we were very glad we did!
Have a great Trip!!!!
