It's his "issue."

There is too much history involved in this to try to explain, but suffice it to say that this thread has stooped lower than a snake's belly in a wheel rut. It gives new meaning to the terms obnoxious, repugnant and racist. The fact that Colin Powell is African-American has everything to do with it. Perhaps if you had paid closer attention to American history in school you might understand.

You know, I swore I would ignore you, but this is too stupid to let slide.

Racist ? Because someone took a picture of the guy in a goofy moment ? That's idiotic even by your standards. Learn to take a freaking joke. I suppose the photo DMadman posted that implied Kerry and Edwards were kissing makes him a homophobic nazi in your mind, too ?

No wonder I placed you on ignore...

First of all, don't assume that I don't know American history.

Secondly, I think you are reading way too much into this thread. I stand by my previous statement regarding the subject being caught in a goofy photo. If you choose to interpret this thread otherwise, that's your problem. Maybe you'd like equal time for the Democrats. I'm sure there are any number of silly photos just like this one.

If you are that hard up for a debate, i.e, argument, post a subject of your own.

I stand by my statement. This is an incredibly racist thread and if someone finds it humorous, then that is incredibly sad and pitiful.

As far as photos go, I did not see dmadman's cartoon, so I cannot comment on it. I do find it odd that you accuse dmadman of sinking low by posting a response, while you start a thread like this that redefines what is "low."
No wonder I placed you on ignore...
Not working too well, is it?

Racist, you got to be the one joking, there is nothing racist about this and yes, I do know my history. I really get tired of people throwing out the race card! Does it ever end?

Not an assumption ... my post was based on what you've written on this thread. Also it's JMO.

The only problem I have is with intolerance, ridicule and racism, which is being displayed abundantly on this thread. But if that's the sort of stuff that gives you grins and giggles, so be it. I've been told there are people like that in this world, sad as it may be.

BTW, I would find a similar photo of Ms. Albright equally repugnant. Or any photo and similar thread about any Democrat for that matter.

Reasonable criticism is one thing. Absurd ridicule is something else entirely. It's this type of bovine excrement that poisons the political atmosphere today. Someone has to stand up and say "Enough."
If you are that hard up for a debate, i.e, argument, post a subject of your own.

I know... it does get tiresome to be called on the carpet about this, doesn't it? I suppose it ends when people stop posting stuff like this thread. ::yes::

"HELLO" we black folk dance and sing just like the next person so whats racist about that. Matter of fact what in the world are you talking about

My goodness should I be shamed because I do the Beyonce booty shake "I THINK NOT!!!!! I shake my tail feather with the best of them on the dance floor regardless of color.

I seriously think some people need an enema to release all the bs.

Pongo69, you really made me laugh out loud, you are too funny and you are right on!

Eeyore, you and I have always (or most always, anyway) seen eye to eye in the past, but you are WAY off base on this one. It's also very much out of character for you to pull an imaginary race card like this - are you feeling okay? :jester:

I'm trying to understand where Eeyore is coming from and I refer back to the Bill Cosby thread from a few days ago...I didn't post on it or follow it for its many pages bc I just didn't feel comfortable saying "Go, Bill!" when I'm not black myself.

But, I think Eeyore is projecting a bit here. Can we ONLY make fun of white, male politicians now because otherwise we'll be considered racist , sexist, homophobic, xenophobic or whatever???

There MAY be racism or race-based dislike, however veiled or unaware the posters themselves may be of it (not pointing to anyone in particular here), on this thread but I guess I myself would be a little more reluctant before i make such an accusation.

You are the one who brought race into this thread. I don't know what the occasion was for Mr. Powell to be dancing and apparently singing, due to the fact that he is holding a microphone, but I'm sure there were no racial under- or over- tones involved. From what I know of him, he is a man of class and dignity who I'm sure would never allow himself to be put in that position. Your agenda does not fit this subject, sorry.

Actually, it wasn't just Colin Powell, but several other Washington insiders, and they were doing a YMCA skit at an asian regional forum. Here is the link from Yahoo:

Powell Does the Village People

and here is another picture from the same event:

As for Eeyore, just ignore him. He saw my name on the thread and apparently lost all reason. I placed the jerk on ignore so that I wouldn't get caught up in his idea of a debate again, but made the mistake of clicking on one of his posts in this and getting incensed at being called a racist.

I love Colin Powell, I have a lot of respect for him and seeing him in that pic just makes me like him even more!

It's great to see him showing his funny side, I love it when politicians aren't afraid to poke a little fun at themselves, it reminds me of Clinton on Arsenio Hall.

Racism? Where?

Steve -- I don't see eye to you on political threads, but I enjoy bantering with you on other threads. I just don't see where wvrevy's post can be considered racist or racism in any shape or form, no matter how you look at it. Nor do I see laughing at a guy dressed up and singing YMCA can be considered racism.

I've read almost all of wvrevy's politcal posts because I do agree with almost everything he says. I have never seen him post anything that would suggest he is in the least bit racist.

:confused3

LOL - damn I'm good! I was joking about the YMCA; I didn't know that's really what he was doing. :)
