I've already booked Captains Grille but have heard a lot of good things about the Cape May Cafe. Not sure which one to choose. Also we are staying at the Wilderness Lodge so how far is each place. Thanks

I think we need to know if you are talking breakfast or dinner. I just had breakfast at both places on my last trip and would vote for Captain's Grille. This is based on just the food because of course, one is a character meal and the other isn't. I had the buffet at the Grille; you can also order from a menu. They had eggs benedict and the same french toast stuff they had at Cape May. It was delicious and calmer, of course, than the place with characters! :rotfl:

Travelling for breakfast to either of these probably means a taxi unless you want to go to a later breakfast and arrive from either Epcot or the Studios after taking the bus from WL.

Can't help you with dinner if that's what you meant! Sorry! ;)

We ate at both last week. We ate the buffet at Cape May and it was the standard breakfast buffet. It's a character meal, so it costs a little more ($27 adults, $13 kids). We then went to Captain's Grille and ate off the menu. It was horrible. They burnt my $9 Mickey Waffle to a crisp, and grabbed a few pieces of the crappy skinny bacon off the buffet and dropped them on my plate. We ordered a fruit cup for my DS1 and it came with a whole bunch of cheap melon and cantaloupe and two grapes. My son ate the two grapes.

The buffet ($16 adults, $9 kids) might be better than the menu. So if you go to Captain's, go buffet.

The two restaurants are really close to each other. They may use the same kitchen. Definitely go to DHS and take the boat to BC/YC.

I have never eaten at the Captain's Grille but we love the Cape May Cafe. My boys especially like the bucket of clams...
(Never had breakfast at either, sorry.)

It's tough to compare the two; it's like comparing apples to oranges. Cape May is a clam bake buffet style restaurant that has other options other than just sea food where as Captains Grill is not a buffet and offers such items as a NY Strip, scallops, crab legs, chicken dish and a few others. Also, Captains Grill is not a over the top themed restaurant as most other WDW restaurants are.

If you are going to get crab legs at the Captains Grill I'd probably recommend Cape May since it offers crab legs on the buffet. However, I personally enjoy the Captains Grill much better and think Captains Grill is a very well kept secret. As for how far they are. Captains Grill is located in the Yacht Club resort and Cape May is in the Beach Club resort. These resorts are right next to each other and the walk from one to the other would not be more than 2 or 3 minutes.

To get there I'd take the boat from WL to MK and then the YC/BC bus.

I've eaten at both. Was impressed by CMC, CG was underwhelming.
