We are staying at YC later this year for our anniversary. DH won't do club- level *sigh*, but has said we can go where I want for breakfast.

How is Captain's Grille for breakfast? (I think it was formally the Yacht Club Galley.)

Any opinions on breakfast buffet? menu? other places nearby for breakfast?

thanks

The Captains Grill is good for breakfast and dinner. In my opinion, it is a little gem that isn't all that popular.

We used to really like Spoodles for their breakfast, but now that they are closed, I don't know if Kouzzina serves breakfast.

Exactly. It's a good buffet (my husband has ordered off the menu but I haven't) and it's nice to have a buffet with no characters - easier, calmer experience. Plus it's generally pretty easy to get into IME.

They have a nice regular menu and a nice buffet. We were just there on Saturday for breakfast and honestly all's I wanted were some egg whites but they were having a problem in the kitchen and could only offer the buffet but it is a nice buffet. (I was just a bit "buffeted out") While we were there they did resolve the kitchen problem and I was able to get my egg whites however I already dug into the buffet.

I agree though it is a nice change from the character buffets. It wasn't exactly "quiet" on the morning we were there however but I do enjoy it and hopefully things will be running smoothly when we go back again next time.

Its actually one of our favs. I think they have the BEST mickey waffles. Its always quiet and the staff has always been wonderful. We've had 2 great breakfasts there.

I reviewed it in my October food report (linked as Gluttoberfest in my signature). I took photos of nearly everything on the buffet. I really enjoy this place.

We also always enjoy at least one if not two breakfasts each trip at Captain's Grille (we stay at YC). Kouzzina does offer breakfast and is nearby, although we haven't tried it yet. Those are the only two table service, non-character breakfasts in that area I can think of.

We also enjoy light breakfasts (CS) from Boardwalk Bakery, Ale and Compass (in the a.m., this small bar area serves coffee and bagels/danish, etc.), BC Marketplace.

Ate there last October, and I have to tell you I found the breakfast buffet lacking. Perhaps it was just that particular morning, but the choices were surprisingly limited and the items were not fresh even though we were among some of the first diners that morning. A good example were the eggs benedict--dry, overcooked, and fairly tasteless. It wasn't an awful experience, but certainly I've had much better elsewhere for less. I do remember thinking that the a la carte menu appeared to have a better selection than the buffet.

thanks for all the feedback--it sounds as if CG is worth a try at least once. If the buffet looks bad I can order something off the menu.

Once again, the board comes through!
