We stayed at the Beach Club Villas a couple weeks ago and had a chance to eat at the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club for both breakfast and dinner. We were really impressed with the place for both meals.

We had read some good things about it before, but it doesn't seem to be as popular as some of the other Epcot resort area restaurants, which is really surprising to me. The food was very good for both meals. The CMs were great, very friendly and helpful. What was most surprising is that it didn't seem packed, even during peak dinner hours. It was also pretty quiet for a Disney restaurant.

If you're over in the Epcot resort area, it is definitely worth checking out. It's probably going to be one of those few restaurants that we will go back to every trip to Disney. :thumbsup2

I agree. I stayed at the YC 7 or 8 times before I finally tried Captain's Grille. All my experiences there have been quite good. It is not a "must do" on every single trip, but it is definitely one of my two or three facorite non-signature restaurants.

Looking fwd to our Sept ADR! Thought about getting breakfast here next weekend before leaving WDW..

We'll be staying at YC for the first time in August and I'm really looking forward to our breakfast and dinner ADRs there. It does sounds like a hidden gem to me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

We walked in for dinner one night and all the food was really very good. Glad we had a villa to take back our leftovers! Waiter was very accommodating of my preschool son.

Given some mixed reviews of Yachtsman, I wondered if the steaks at Captain's Grill are just as good. Maybe that's a better option for us.

Unless Yachtsman is really good, for 2 dining credits, I'm very tempted to eat at Flying Fish Cafe a 2nd or 3rd time instead. Love FF's seafood and I heard their NY strip steak is very good too...

I'm not worried about using up credits... we have plenty with deluxe dining plan.... but if Yachtsman is nothing spectacular, I might prefer Captain's Grill.

That's exactly what we did. After we had used up our dining plan, we paid oop on our last morning. It was a pretty good value. We all did the buffet for breakfast (you don't have to) and really enjoyed it. They had a very nice selection and everything was fresh.

It was bittersweet, since we had the "last day blues" of course, but a very good meal!

I can't speak for the steaks at Captain's Grille personally because I'm a seafood guy, but those in our party who got steak said it was great. I can't speak for Yachtsman, but Captain's Grille drew rave reviews from everyone. And since it's only 1 table credit on the DDP and cheaper OOP, it's more affordable.

We discoverd this hidden gem by accident as well. When we arrived for our stay at the YC our flight was delayed (Ohio winters) and we arrived later than planned. Instead of rushing to our ADR we inquired with concierge and they suggested this place. We were surprised at how much we liked it. We have been back twice since then. And yes, the steaks are very good. :thumbsup2

SHHHHHH.....quiet down peeps....now i won't be able to get into Captains Grill last minute. Your letting the secret out;)

Love Captains Grill. They have an appetizer trio for dinner that can be at any signature....sooo yummy.

Looking forward to our dinner at Captain's Grille at the end of August (and we are staying at Coronado, but on the DDP).

A Question for those who enjoy it:

What did you eat? I love seafood so would prefer to stick with that but would love all opinions on good appetizers/entrees/desserts, etc... Is the 3 course $27 meal worth it or better to choose other menu options?

Thanks!!!

I tend to go for the breakfast buffet once each trip. I'm a big fan of the roasted roma tomatoes with the melted parmesan on top. Yum!

Last time I had dinner there, the name of the restaurant was Yacht Club Galley. I thought dinner was decent, but I might want to try it out on a future trip.

Well, I hope this means they've actually upped their game. My husband and I used to think this was a hidden gem as well, and then we had some spectacularly sub-par experiences and refuse to patronize them further. Like most Disney establishments, I suspect this one is as good or as bad as the day you visit.

we ate there several times last Nov. At dinner, several of us had steak (very good), sil had crab legs (very good) and the dgs enjoyed their dinner. Breakfast is good too. Have had both a la carte and buffet.

Enjoy

The breakfast buffet at CG is a must-do for us on every trip!

Not even close. YSH is so much better than CG. YSH is a dining experience with food and a level of service to match those expectations. CG is a place to eat.

We love the Captain's Grille. The service was fantastic! We both had the pork and it was wonderful. Can't wait to return. We tried this restaurant just to go somewhere different and we were very pleased. Frankly, the last time that we went to the Yachtsman, our dinners were good but the service was just not so. Maybe it was an off night, but the service was really a disappointment.

Glad to hear positive reviews. We are going there for the first time in August.

We are going to try Captain's Grille for lunch on our HS day. Have only heard good things about it. Planning on a boat ride over for a late lunch and then catch a bus to DTD.

Anyone had the lobster roll?
