I have seen tons of great reviews for Kona. I was looking at the menus and i thought Captains Grill seemed similar, but there is not many reviews of Captains Grill. I was thinking Kona is more popular since it is near the MK, so does anyone have any good things about Captains Grill. We also wouldnt mind checking out the Poly or YC/BC.

Captain's Grill was just recently changed from the Yacht Club Galley. I don't have any idea if the menu is the same or not. If you look for reviews of Yacht Club Galley...same place.

Hi! We have ADR's for both Kona and Captains Grille in July! We have eaten at Kona many times and love it :rotfl: , but are also wondering about Captains Grille! Would love some dining pics!:cool1:

DW and I were at the Captain's Grille for lunch in the beginning of May. We each had crab cakes and a salad for lunch. It was one of the best lunches during the trip.

Service was great. It was a nice break during our tour of Epcot. We took the launch in both directions.

Would highly recommend the Captain's Grille for lunch.

Have a great trip!!!:cool1:

We had breakfast twice and dinner once at Captain's Grille last week. The menu is not at all like Kona Cafe but we enjoyed our meals there.

The menu on the DIS appears to be current.

I had the halibut for dinner and it was quite good. Although no one in our party ordered it, I heard a gentlemen walking by the podium highly recommend the seafood stew.

For breakfast, there is also a buffet as an option. BTW, the glasses for juice are the largest juice glasses I've ever seen.....I'd guesstimate them at 15 oz. or so.

We are considering Kona for our upcoming trip.
What is the dress code there? Will we be able to go straight from the park to the restaurant in shorts? Or will we need to go back to the room and change. We are hoping that we can go straight from AK to the restaurant. That is one reason we are still undecided about Kona. We just weren't sure if we should do a Downtown Disney restaurant instead so we can go in park clothes.

You will be fine in park clothes at Kona Cafe.

We love both restaurants but to us the menus are totally different. I have pics of Kona breakfast and Captains Grill dinner and breakfast from April in my signature and Kona dinner and Captains Grill breakfast from Oct in my signature

I would for sure eat at both places for both meals again, yumm-o!

I was very disappointed in Kona the past 2 times we ate there. I found the food to be just OK, and since there is no "theming" or anything in the restaurant itself, it should be all about the food, right?
Based on the raves around here, I thought the first time was just an off night. Now having struck out twice, we're done there.

On our trip in January we ate lunch our first day (1-1-08) at Captain's Grille. It was one of out favorite (me and two kids).

Later in the trip we had dinner at Kona. We loved it too.

They are both very different.

I don't know how to link to my trip report but I have gotten day 1 done with pictures from Captain's Grill. It is titles We Got Food, Yes We do...It is still a work in progress but at least the pictures/review from CG is there!

We had eaten at Kona in late 2007 and LOVED it. Thought it would become one of our must-dos. However, we tried it again just a week or so ago and were very disappointed. It may have just been an off night, but the quality did not seem the same. We won't be returning there for awhile. :confused3
