Is Captain EO doing well? I assumed it was only temporarily brought back after the death of MJ, but just saw online that it is still open?

I had a panic attack in that darn show and had to get up and leave. Which was a bummer because I enjoy MJ :/

Anyway, just surprised to see that it is still operational and wondered if anyone knew how it has been doing as of late.

It's still open, and I went on it last week. Actually, it was a lot of fun to go on Captain EO on one day and Star Tours the next and be able to compare the 3D technology from both time periods. As for how it's doing, I went on in the middle of the afternoon, and the theater was well under half full.

I hate to say this, but I agree 100%. We saw it this past summer and it was a huge waste of my time!

YES! We saw this last month for the first time and I'm still wondering why we sat through the whole thing. I suppose it was the car wreck effect, so terrible, so tragic, and yet we could not look away. Plus, I wasn't sure what exactly my boyfriend was thinking during the show, and didn't want to suggest leaving if he was having a good time...he wasn't.

The reason that Captain EO is still around is not because its "Doing Well" but they don't have anything to replace it.

The current thought is that it will stay until they can find a new sponsor for the pavilion and as far as anyone knows there is not even a hint of them finding anyone.

And it's still playing in DL right? I seem to recall watching it in Tomorrowland. What a joke.

I love Captain EO! Love it. Reminds me of my first trip to WDW when I was 7. Body Wars, old school Figment, Captain EO. I will never forget that trip!

I also did not like it, It's an attraction we now skip over at EPCOT. Saw it once in May of 2011, and don't think we'll ever see it again.

Wow - glad to hear I'm not the only one! Seriously that show/theater could cause anyone to have a panic attack!

Theater smells weird, special effects are creepy, etc. Thank goodness I was by the exit doors so I didn't have to climb over a ton of people! It was a full theater when we went, but it was right after it re-opened.

Interesting thought about finding a sponsor for a new attraction in that pavilion. Makes total sense!

That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. It was garbage when it first ran and was replaced many moons ago. Yes, I know there are many MJ worshipers out there, but the idea that this was brought back to life, so to speak, right after MJ died, in my mind, was a blatant way to capitalize on MJ's demise. I felt that Disney was better then that. But I was wrong and there it is in all it's prehistoric glory.

Replacing HISTA with that was not a step up but unfortunately, that has been the lot in life for the Imagination Pavilion. They should rename it to the 'We can't think of anything to do with this place and when we do, It's Just Wrong Pavilion'.:confused3

p.s. why didn't they just keep honey I shrunk the audience or bring it back? That was old...but at least it was cute. My kids LOVED it.

I have to agree that seeing it once was (far) more than enough for me. I saw it after going directly to Epcot after a long early flight to Orlando to join my family, and I think I actually dozed off while watching it.

Count me as one of the few faithful, I suppose. My Fiancee and I love this attraction, more for it's unintentional comedy value than anything more. The dancing is good, I suppose, but the characters, bad special fx, and the sound effects when they're dancing, we just can't stop laughing the whole time.

I last saw it about 25 years ago when I was about 10, and it was awesome (at least for a 10-year-old). How can Michael Jackson plus Francis Ford Coppola go wrong?

After you reach 10, you find out that a lot can go wrong. For it's time it was mildly relevant. That is not the case today and is being shown strictly because of MJ's death. Yes, there is some nostalgia attached but that was exactly what they were counting on happening.

During the time that this film was made MJ wasn't nearly as "freaky" as he later became. His popularity as well as his talent had waned and the shock of his death prompted someone at Disney to decide...Hey, we have this film already, it was once in the Imagination Pavilion so programming existed already. Why not use it? They did, I'm sorry they did. But that's just me.
