As I'm sure most of you know, DLR is seriously considering bringing back Captain EO for a limited Halloweentime engagement. Do you think this will cause the crowds to flock to the parks?

Well I can say with certainty that Captain EO won't make me want to flock to Disneyland. If anything, it would make me want to stay far far away.....like a repellent.

Once a dumb show, always a dumb show.

But I'm sure there are those out there.....WAY out there ;).....that would flock in to get a chance to see Captain EO again.

I'm pretty excited at the chance of seeing it. I know it is dumb, I've seen it before, but it is classic.

Halloweentime is pretty busy as it is, I think Capt Eo would definitely draw more peopple to the park.

While I can't say that crowds will flock to the DLR just because of Captain EO, I think there will be people (like myself) who will watch it!

There are a few of us on the DisBoards who think it's entertaining and not a "dumb show", and in all honesty...the less people in line means I won't have to wait as long to see it, LOL!!! I'll be there, ready to put those :3dglasses on!

I never enjoyed being part of a crowd. For that, as well as other reasons I won't be there.

:3dglasses

I'd go....:) Sure it was hokey but it was still fun to watch. :)

Don't pander to the naysayers. Captain EO Rocks! You know it and I know it. Heck, I'd buy tickets to see it. :goodvibes

No Barbosa, it is dumb. That is what I like about it. I was involved in midnight screenings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show for ten years of my life. I like dumb cheesy shows.

I LOVE Rocky Horror!!! I used to go to the midnight shows also. There's a theater group here in town that does the play every Oct. You'd be amazed at how many of us dress up and go! Oh, I'd go see Captain EO again too!

I would love to see Captain EO again! If nothing else, I want to see the comparison between that and HISTA. I saw Capt. EO longgg ago but I remember the flying fuzzy thing being really similar to the flying thing in HISTA. Anyway, I would definitely go to see it if it was showing while I was there.

I was just joking guys. You all know me better than that.....or I thought you did.

I was making a friendly joke for my many friends here on the boards that I know would love to see Captain EO again. That is why I included the wink smilie in my statement.....you know.....to signal that I was kidding. I guess I should have put in a few more laughing smilies or rolling on the floor smilies or something. I'm sure that the people who know me and my history here on the boards knows that I was joking. I obviously know there are people who love Captain EO and would love to have a chance to see it again.

Just a friendly, joking little jab people. Honest. If I was there at Disneyland during Halloween time and Captain EO was playing, of course I would go see it, dumb and cheesy or not. It would be one last chance to see it. I promise, I'm really NOT an "annoying park guest". I didn't realize this would get so personal.

Anyway, sorry for upsetting anyone who may not have known I was kidding.

OMG!!!
YES, I THINK IF THEY BROUGHT IT BACK IT WOULD BRING A WHOLE CROWD OF PEOPLE TO SEE IT!!

FUNNY, BECAUSE MY SISTER TOLD ME SHE WOULD BUY TICKETS TO SEE IT AGAIN TOO. :) WE WERE RAISED BY DISNEY, SO ITS IN OUR BLOOD...

ONCE A FAN, ALWAYS A FAN!! LOL

HALLOWEEN TIME IS A GREAT TIME TO BRING IT BACK TOO!
Busy and all, but it will be nice to re-live the classic... popcorn::

Count me in. If they bring it back, I'll be there - even if they bring it back to WDW.

I saw Captain EO the first year it was open (almost got to go to the all-night premiere weekend, but mom wouldn't let me). It was always a little goofy, but I'd take my kids to see it, if only so they could see what I saw. I don't think I'd buy tickets just for that, but I'll already be there this Halloween!

I will go see it! :thumbsup2

I LOVED IT! Cheesy and all.

The day MJ died I watched it on youtube. Angelica Houston rocks! Ohhh, and I saw ebay had a Captain EO shirt that was original from the premiere and it was selling for lots of $$$$.

How can you not love a musical/show that has a song with lyrics like:

"We're Sendin' Out
A Major Love
And This Is Our
Message To You
(Message To You)
The Planets Are Linin' Up
We're Bringin' Brighter Days
They're All In Line
Waitin' For You
Can't You See . . .?
You're Just Another Part Of Me ."

Halloween Space Mountain AND Captain EO? Imagine that mob in your head...then ask yourself if it is still a good idea!
I'm getting flashbacks of the stampede of 2005, getting trapped between the fireworks and fanstasmic crowds. I'm not clausterphobic, but I almost had a panic attack.

I may have missed it, but I have not read anything from Disney indicating that THEY are "seriously considering bringing back Captain EO." I have read countless FANS wishing for this, but nothing from Disney. I would be extremely surprised if it were to happen.

To answer your question, no, I don't think it would cause people to flock to the parks. It might get an initial fanatic surge, but short-lived, imho.
