My brother and I were talking and he heard that there was talk about bringing Captain EO back to honor Michael Jackson. Anyone else heard anything?

Not likely. Disney probably doesn't want to be connected to the Michael Jackson that was taken to court several times for his supposed activities with little boys.

That would be awesome. At the very least it should be released on DVD in 3D with the Disney glasses!

My bet is that they WILL bring it back...how can they NOT?

Even with his 'issues' with what is appropriate in relation to his playdates...the chance to cash in on MJ will be too strong...

This would most likely be the only thing they would do for this movie. It would be a good idea and direct money for all.

I seriously doubt it will come back to the park. It would be a huge step backwards. HISTA is DATED!!!!!!!!!! Captain EO even more so, it's plain old fashion 3-D, and with all the advances in effects and 3-D why dig up a dated monster, change up the theater and put something in that looks older then what you have in the theater now.

The only way I see this happening is if they decide to spend a bunch of money to clean up the original and try to make it look less dated. I don't personally think in the long run it would be worth while, and I don't think Disney will waste the money. Personally I would rather them spend the money on a Star Tours up date and a possible ride replacement for the theater.

Not only is it dated, but it stars a pedophile! Bringing it back, or even releasing it on DVD, would be the worst public relations move that Disney could ever make! The complaints and bad press would be epic.

Mind you, I liked EO when it first came out. But it doesn't belong in Disney any more.

That's not entirely true, he was acquitted of those charges and how could you post that in the chance that his children could someday see it...irreguardless whether it is true or not isn't the point, there are many who loved Capt EO and would like to have a DVD copy of it and right now would be a good financial move for Disney as thats what they are in business for is to make as much money as they can!
The man was strange and I think alot misunderstood!!!

I personally wouldn't want it to come back. Capt. EwwwO but, I did read that LegoLand tried to make some Lego monument to him and was blocked by copyright. So obviously there is an interest. But I just can't see DL bringing back a dinosour like that with all the "need" to update tomorrowland anyway. IMO it wouldn't add anything positive or futuristic to the outdated tomorrowland :confused3

Courts don't find people innocent, they find them "not guilty." As in, insufficient proof to convict. Undoubtedly because MJ bought off the complainants with undisclosed "civil" settlements. But c'mon -- look at the preponderance of the evidence. He even showed video featuring boys that he shared a bed with. Perhaps they couldn't prove actual molestation, but sharing a bed with pre-pubescent boys is enough for me.

I think he probably heard talk about talk about bringing it back. In other words, people suddenly have this idea since he died.

My question is this: Why do people think that since he died it should come back? I don't get it. :confused3

As for the pedophile issue... he was charged. He was found not guilty. According to the laws of the US, that is where that ends. However, public opinion is a different issue. Remember also, OJ was found not guilty of murder. Funny thing, they never did find the murdered though, did they?

Personally, I think that it should stay in Yesterland, but for those who find the need to reminisce, it is available to listen to on www.d-cot.com in the Jukebox.

Get rid of Honey I Shrunk the Audience and bring Capt. EO back! I just think it is really sad for people to judge someone only based upon what the MEDIA places out there. It is truly amazing! The MEDIA can report, this that and something else and the MAJORITY of people will read it and take it as the gospel. I think being a TRUE Christian, we are not to judge. I think as the other poster stated, he was a man that was misunderstood by many and because of his love for children, he was made out to be someone that he wasn't. If he were truly what the MEDIA labeled him to be, then I would think we would have had more cases coming forth, etc. The one case was said where the kid came out and said it wasn't true and his father told him to do it to get money. It is funny how that same MEDIA that constantly bothered him, is the same MEDIA running to make money off of him now with photos, etc.... Pretty sad. Let the man finally have some peace. He deserved it on earth but only received it after death.

I'm SO done with HISTA!

It would be a great blast from the past to see Captain EO in 3D again! The music and the dancing were amazing!

If not at DL, then maybe at another venue like El Capitan Theater or the movie theater in DTD for a limited run. I'd watch in a heartbeat with popcorn in hand! popcorn::

I went to the opening of Captain EO. DL was open all night, and the line went half way down Main Street.

I could care less that Pee-Wee Herman was caught in an adult theater, I love Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, and Pee-Wee as a character, good for kids but great for adults!

Michael Jackson's odd persona and eccentricity lead him to be a vulnerable target for all sorts of accusations. He was a weird guy, but I wouldn't go as far as to call him a pedophile. One of the allegations possibly seems valid or at least something fishy may have taken place. But I believe the 2nd one was false and an attempt to take advantage of his oddness and 1st abuse claim.

Pedophile is a very strong word and shouldn't be used so loosely. We only know the guy via the media which isn't always the best source and all celebrities worst enemy and nightmare. What's next, are we going to start believing everything printed in the Star and the Enquirer?

Michael Jackson is literally a Legendary Icon, no one in our lifetime will ever come close to accomplishing what he has accomplished. Disney will probably not bring back Captain E.O., but if they did I think it would create a huge draw, but I'd imagine there would be protesters, and protesters protesting the protesters so it would be too chaotic.

Can't anyone dig up some dirt on Rick Moranis? Maybe that will get them to change things.
