Does anyone know if the Park will be offering Captain EO merchandise for the re-release? I had the tshirt when I was little, and wore it til the poor thing fell to pieces & would like to get a replacement when I'm there in March or April.

Disney? Merchandise? I would bet money on it.

I'm gonna agree with DisneyDreams on this one, as much as we all love Disney, you know they are all about making some profits too. So I'm betting with how excited people are for the EO return, there will be a fairly good amount of merchandise to go with it. I'm just guessing of course, but I can't remember a time when they didn't have merch for a new attraction... (or anxiously awaited re-opening)

Does anyone have an official "open date"? When they say Feb, do they mean Feb 1, or is it later in the month? I'm trying to avoid open week for my b-day trip down. TIA!

I've been checking the calender on DL website, and all it says is reopening date TBD, pretty much says that for everyday that is available in feb... I want to know too!!!!

I for one heard about the re-release of Captain EO from one of my friends on FB, can't tell you how excited I am to be able to see it again! Yes, you can view it on you-tube but you can't really get the full effects from it like the big screen and it is shown with 3-D glasses which makes the the short film better. Of course it isn't like the new films with all the new CG effects but in the 80's it was pretty high tech. So I for one can't wait!

I don’t get it….I just watched the movie on YouTube and I have to say my immediate thoughts are “that’s 16minutes + of my life that I’ll never get back”….it was one of the most ordinary things I’ve ever seen….poor green screen, some sort of death star chase scene rip-off, cheesy puppets, amateurish stop motion animation, a lame song and a story that made little if any sense at all…Why on earth are so many people so excited about this thing?

Did you get a chance to see the show back when it was at Disneyland? There's really no comparing YouTube to what you'll actually see in the theater. It's a fun show, very high energy music best experienced in the theater, 3D effects were good for that era, think they'll cross over well since the HISTA effects aren't all that great. If you visit Disneyland while Captain E.O. is running, please consider donating another 16 minutes to see if the experience is different .
