Can you tell me about it please? We are staying at the Poly on the DDP so we are thinking of eating here for some counter meals. I see things like grilled cheese on the lunch menu. Is that a regular grilled cheese or something fancy? What are Polynesian Chips? Can you get a dole whip for dessert?

Thanks so much~;)

DH and I both liked the Aloha Pork sandwich, the Polynesian chips are like kettle cooked chips, very crispy, I liked them a lot, DH not so much. Yes, you can get a Dole Whip for dessert! DGD had the grilled cheese but it was the kids' menu one, she ate it all and she's extremely picky.

Captain Cooks is one of our favorite Counter Service places in WDW. The adult grilled cheese has like 5 different cheeses and it is delish! I love the Boursin and the bread was sooo good. The Poly chips are excellent. Theu seems to give you a mixture of regular chips, sweet potato chips and a crispy light tortilla like chip with your sandwich selection, They are all yummy. The Pork Sammy is good and even the Burgers were better than most CS locations. The kids enjoyed the flatbreads. And yes, the have Dole Whips, they are SELF SERVE!!!!

Also, since you are staying at the Poly, they have excellent breakfasts available at CC's too. The Mickey Waffles, eggs and sausage were all very good compared to other CS locations we have been to for breakfast.

We have only eaten there for breakfast and we love the Tonga Toast. We never are around at lunch but in the evening we always notice a bunch of people enjoying the food. Personally, I don't know where they get the room to be eating at 10PM.

I go to CC every trip simply because I can make my own Dole Whip!

The grilled cheese sandwich from the kid's menu is DISGUSTING. It is like 2 very flat pieces of bread followed by one thin piece of cheese. it didn't even looked grilled. It seemed like someone nuked it in the microwave for 20 seconds. It was the worst grilled cheese I have ever had! (Yes, I ordered from the kid's menu.........LOL)

When my family and I stayed at the Polynesian in December 2007 we went to Captain Cook's a few times and my favorite item was the Adult Grilled Cheese, however I always ordered it without the Blue Cheese.

We loved it last August. Ate there alot, although it was tricky getting a space for 5 to eat at! We had to wait for space at the bench.

*Tonga Toast a must-do...get some bacon to cut the sweetness though!
*Aloha Pork sandwich was terrific and sweet, with cucumbers...weird but good.
*Hawaiian flatbread was a good pizza, although heavy on the onions
*Chicken caesar salad made for a nice fresh break during the week

You will enjoy it!

Good flatbread pizza and aloha pork sandwiches. Also, I seem to remember being able to get a pina colada there. :smokin:

And in the evening, the tables outside with the tiki torches are pleasant.

I LOVED the adult grilled cheese, comes with lettuce and tomato, unlike the child's version. CC also had good salads. Tonga Toast for breakfast was very good- very sweet. Dole Whips- YUM!
