Just wanted to give a thumbs up for Captain Bags as I like to spread the word when I think I have received good service - I ordered some bags for carrying liquid on the plane (couldn't imagine being happy for 8 / 9 hours without my roll on deoderant!) a week ago and was actually not very impressed as they still havn't arrived today.

However - I have just checked my email and have a message apologising for the delay informing me they have had technical problems since moving server which means orders have not been processed over the last week. My bags have been sent first class today.

Not much you may think but the order was only worth £1.46 and they didn't HAVE to email me at all... I know a lot of companies wouldn't have bothered.

You know the new regulations re carrying liquid in your hand luggage? - well www.CaptainBags.com is the only place other than Ebay that I have found the right sized bags. We ordered 10 ziplock bags for 73p + postage.

I ordered late Friday night, and now have an email saying my items (airplane bags and large one for camera) were shipped Saturday morning, so will be looking out for them this week! Yay.

Just an FYI for anyone looking for suitable bags: Asda's resealable freezer bags (come in a blue box) are fine to use as they fit the dimensions

I'm very impressed. My bags were on the mat when I got home from work this evening! And, not only did I get the two sets of bags that I ordered, but a few extra freebies as well!!! Nice one Captain Bags!

Had I not needed a giant one (to put my D-SLR in while in it's not so waterproof bag), I probably would have used supermarket ones. But I needed special ones, so just got the smaller ones while I was at it - were about the same price as supermarket anyway.

The OP needed then for carrying liquids on the plane - not for specialist use. Always good to hear of good customer service though

Try Glad Bags from Publix/Walmart - they come in tiny & huge sizes - we bring some back every year, cheaper than here too

Mine have arrived this evening as well - with a selection of freebies to try out... tho I'm not sure what we are going to do with the diddiest one!

I had been to Tesco, Asda, and Sainsbury and not found the right size - that's why I ordered them off the net, just wanted to let everyone know that if you are in need of bags, for the plane or otherwise, Captain Bags is the place to go

Glad you got good service but there is really no need to order online & pay for postage when perfectly adequate ones are available through regular sources. I'd hate for holiday makers to feel they have to order specific sizes - jmo

Forgive me for stating the obvious - there is no 'right' size, only a maximum size.

The problem I've come across is that the small resealable sandwich bags in many places are still larger than the maximum size. The ones I've looked at in the last couple of days have been 20cm x 25cm and 20cm x 21.5cm. The maximum is 20cm x 20cm

If I can't get any the right size, I'll just have to hope that they've misplaced their rulers next week

Well there is a right size - within the specified limits. I could not find any bags in the three supermarkets that I went to that were within the size limit (all bigger as the above poster also found) so there was a need for me to get them elsewhere.

They were cheap and the service was good, and it was a damn site quicker and easier than my trawl round Asda, Tesco, and Sainsbury was. If your local supermarket has bags within the size limit thats great. Mine didn't.

I take it that was for me, and if so, then you misunderstand. I got the 20x20 ones for the plane. The ziplock bag for my D-SLR however is NOT for the plane - it's for the parks!!! So that I can ride the water rides and survive the afternoon thunderstorms/torrential downpours without having to worry about ruining my camera!

God, I remember last year all too clearly! No bags, tiny clear bag, bigger clear bag, normal bags... I'm just eternally grateful that they reinstated normal bags, although seriously restricted in size, a couple of days before we left last year!!!! Although, having had to deal with such size restrictions last year, I am still convinced they are going to take my little Tinkerbell suitcase away from me at check-in despite having measured it at least 10 times already, so will keep one big clear bag handy just in case.

Those Grip seal bags are brilliant - I use them for everything when I'm away. I put suncream in one, wet wipes in another, tissues in another etc. I take a change of t-shirt if we are in the parks all day and a change of smalls (well, not so small in my case but I'm sure you don't want a mental image) and these go in a bag too. Gives me a bag to put the changed clothes in too.

They are great for keeping things dry, like cameras. I'm a regular with one of the Ebay sellers now!
