Wondering if anyone knows if Captain America is still doing meet n greets on the Disney Magic? Just did my online check in for December recently and there were no Marvel meet n greet pre bookings available. Just Princesses and Frozen. What about the boys?? :sad1:

Not sure the Captain America Meet & Greets are pre-bookable. Only a couple of the more popular ones are. But there are lots of other Meet & Greets that you just line up for.

You could check some of the recent Navigators here: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/ to see what character meet & greets there were.

I also feel sometimes the boys get the shaft with disney.. id love to see more characters on the ships, or even in WDW for dinners and such that are geared towards boys.

Heck, as an adult male, I'd love to meet Captain America! That would be so cool, truth be told, I can hardly wait to try out the Avengers Academy on the Magic next year during the open house.

In April on the Magic we had the Marvel Meet and Greet - Captain America, Spiderman, and Thor. Can't help you with anything more recent than that sorry.

Thank you for sharing! Did you have to get tickets for this event - either booked online or picked up onboard? I really hope they have the same kind of Marvel meet and greet in December!

Hi

we were on the Magic earlier this month, and there were photo sessions (are they meet and greets? I'm new here!) but they weren't bookable.

That said my two boys were in the Oceaneers Club doing the Avengers Academy and Cap turned up for that so they got to speak with him there. The amusing thing was going to pick them up afterwards I walked past him in the corridor and he saluted me!

No info to share, just another family hoping that Captain America and other Avengers make the rounds on the Magic this fall. My 3 y.o. DS is utterly obsessed with all things Avengers and I am really hoping that Cap stops by the kids' club and/or has an opportunity for a meet n greet while on the ship. i don't remember seeing these characters on our prior sailings, but we've never been on the Magic before -- I haven't made any promises to the boys, but I know I sure am super-excited at thought! I'd be a super-hero Mommy if my son gets to meet Captain America!

We just got off the Magic this past Saturday. I'm happy to report that on both sea days there were meet and greets with Cap and Thor (regular non ticket meet and greets). Spider-Man was listed on the navigator but was called back to save New York...;) On both sea days there were two opportunities to meet each character. It was so much fun!!

Isn't the marvel guys at universal theme park? I remember meeting them at universal? Does Disney own the rights or did they pay for the rights to have them onboard?

Disney bought Marvel Entertainment in 2009. It has the rights to many of the Marvel characters now. I believe there are a few that are not under the "Disney umbrella" though.

The major none Disney owned characters are:
  • The Fantastic Four (the movies sucked anyway)
  • The X-Men (that is a bit of a shame)
  • Deadpool (not really appropriate for the kids)
  • Namor (the Marvel version of Aquaman)
  • The Silver Surfer (who none of the kids will know anyway)
They've recently signed a deal for Spider-Man so the new movies will be in the same universe as the Avengers movies (although I still thought it was odd to introduce the new Spider-Man in Civil War).

I thought Disney owned Deadpool but 'leased' it to Fox (?) as it wasn't child-friendly enough for Disney to release it as a movie whilst staying true to the comics? I just remember hearing somewhere how Disney was making money out of the movie.

And thanks for the reminder about the Silver Surfer. That brings back lots of childhood memories. :)

This is a very interesting article that explains the unique Disney/Universal/Marvel conundrum. It also helps with understanding how it is that Marvel is more prevalent in some Disney arenas than others.

We had Thor and captain America on our magic cruise earlier this year. No Spider-Man and no special ticketed event....just regular meet and greet.
