I know that this may be a wierd question, but we will be at WDW on
July 31st, and the weather will be HOT!! Do you think that tee shirts and light weight capris will be too hot for this time of the year? My thinking is that hot, sticky legs touching hot, sticky seats/rides would just be...yucky.:lmao: What do you all think? :confused3 Also, what type of shoes will be best for the heat and the rain?

TIA for any help!:flower3:

We wear Tevas, they're great whether it's raining or not, and they let your feet breathe :). We wear tee shirts and shorts in July (leaving on Friday!!!). I would probably wear bermuda length shorts? Like, to the knee? if you're worried.

I wear capri's in the parks alot, even in the summer and I don't notice that I am any 'hotter' than in shorts. (I have this I hate how my knees look in fully body pictures thing). You should be fine in capris.

As far as shoes that is all personal preference, I have done the croc thing, the croc flip flops, tennis shoes, etc. I personally like tennis shoes the best and recently invested in some 'under armour' by nike tennis shoes. They are supposed to wick away moisture to keep your feet dryer. I havn't really tried them enough to atest to that fact yet but they are quiet comfy for me. Some people like flip flops/sandals better as you don't have to deal with socks but for me in places were I am walking alot I can't stand the impending 'dirty feet' I get with sandal type shoes.

You know your body well enough to know if you are someone that sweats a lot. It's going to be HOT...surface of the sun hot. The air conditioning is fierce in a lot of places so I wished I had worn long pants many time but I am cold natured so I could pretty much wear a parker and loves and be ok!

I used to wear shorts in my younger days, but no longer(let's just say the spider vein fairy likes me, a LOT). Capris ALL the time and we go in August. There are some lightweight ones I love by Gloria Vanderbilt...side pocket on the leg to hold a cell phone, tie waist for those Free Dining trips, dry super quick for water rides. I do not get any hotter than I did wearing shorts, and I agree about the A/C, I am grateful to be in capris during those arctic moments. I look like a dork because I wear running shoes, or teva's w/socks...but my feet get sweaty and I cannot stand that feeling so no cute footwear , but it WDW is NOT about fashion, it's about MAGIC and comfort! Have a great trip!

I have some very light, thin, kind of baggy capris that I love to wear when it's hot. They are so light that are just about as cool as shorts and they keep my knees from burning which they tend to do even when I wear sunscreen. Light, loose capris might work for you but remember, no denim!

I also wear capris in the parks.... in August! I am perfectly fine.... my legs seldom get hot. I do wear tank tops with them.... I can't stand to be hot up top! Mine are a lightweight material, and are cargo style with lots of pockets... they are also loose, which is important! Tight ones won't be as comfy.... air needs to be able to circulate!

As for shoes, my favorite park touring shoes are my Crocs Cleos... love them! Cute, sorta dressy, comfy, breathable, and they dry very quickly!

It is going to be very hot no matter what you wear. I always wear capris and T's. I am not a large or heavy woman, but my thighs touch ( even at 105 lbs they touched), bodyglide and chafing gels don't do much for me either so i wear capris or long shorts. On my feet I wear tevas hiking sandals. They are comfy to walk in, let your feet breathe, and dry fast

I love capris. I wear them daily at the parks. Just like you, I don't like to stick to seats and rides and capris protect my legs. We generally go at teh end of August so it is very hot and humid, and I don't find it at all too warm. On my feet, I either wear crocs or keen sandals, as it rains usually daily, both shoe types dry quickly.

OK so I'll 'fess up to being the uber-dork who wears light-weight capris with (no laughing now).... sneakers. They're the K-Swiss ones that I get on sale at Kohls so they're not the clunky ones that I save to wear special with my shorts. And fanny pack. With floppy hat. But in order to save myself from being a complete Disney fashion flop I wear those little "footy" socks and leave the knee socks at home (to wear with my sandals....).

You'll be fine in capris but make sure your footwear is well broken in. Blisters suck.

Keep this in mind.
I just saw a news flash on MSNBC. Due to copyright protection NBC, who owns the rights to the Dick Van **** show, is now charging a $50 per day Mary Tyler Moore impression fee for all capri wearers at WDW.

I may be in the minority here, but I wore capris once and was sorry for it. We had an early flight (like 6 AM early) so I wore them for the plane. I knew it would be chilly that early. We got to Disney before noon via ME. We left our bags and went to the parks since our room was not ready. I didn't think it would be necessary to change so I didn't carry on any shorts. I was so hot I thought I would die. This was mid June. I can tolerate heat if I am wearing shorts and a loose shirt. Capris are a no no if it is hot and humid. For what it's worth, I hate my legs too, but I delete pics that are not flattering. Digital cameras are wonderful!!

TinkOhio~ We will be there the same time as you. We generally go during this time frame - late July into early August. I have never worn capris - I wear shorts, Tees, and sneakers. However, for our trip this year I am bringing two pairs of skimmers (not capris). Skimmers (from Kohl's) come to just below the knee. I am hoping it will look okay with sneakers. :rolleyes1 It is about comfort not about fashion...right?

I wear capri's all the time, and the shirt depends on the weather. I too have a problem with how I think my knees look. :-( And I agree that having something between me and the plastic/vinyl/or whatever seats is a good thing.
Sneakers work for me. I don't have to worry about them falling off, stubbing my bare toes, or getting stepped on by someone with BIG shoes!

If they are lightweight capri's they will be fine. For shoes I bring my Brooks running shoes, Crocs Cleo's and my Crocs flip flops. I do not wear the same shoes every day because even the most comfortable shoes will start to hurt my feet after several days and miles of walking around in them.

I usually wear long jeans or cargo pants to the parks, even in September when it's still hot and humid. But I moved my trip up to early August this year, so I invested in some capris myself. I can't stand sticking to seats in shorts, so I haven't worn shorts to a theme park in years (not since I was a child and didn't have a lot of say in what I wore). So I expect to be cooler in the capris than in the jeans I would normally wear. It may seem strange to others to live in Florida and not wear shorts, but I just don't feel comfortable in them.

As far as footwear, I have an extremely high arch, and haven't had much luck finding sandals that are comfortable, so it's well broken in walking shoes for me. I figure comfort outweighs style when you're on your feet walking for hours at a time. I always take two pair of shoes with me, in case it rains and one gets wet - that way I can let them thoroughly dry before wearing them again.

We're going during the uber-heat of late August and I've got lightweight cotton capris to wear. I haven't worn shorts in years, and I figure that the 6" of additional fabric covering my knees and shins (beyond what longer shorts would cover) probably isn't going to be the deciding factor if I'm too hot! Add in some sleeveless tanks, and I think I'm set for fairly comfortable clothes.

Fla4fun -- I hear you about having higher arches and not finding comfortable sandals! I went to this shoe store a few weeks ago that specializes in those lovely "orthopedic-style" sandals and shoes.

I found a pair of sandals that are honestly the most comfortable I've ever wore - like wearing two pillows strapped to your feet. Of course, they are hideously ugly (they are SAS sandals in this industrial brown leather look) but my DH says they look much better than Birkenstocks or my beloved bright red Croc Caymans. I just wore them to the zoo today for 4 hours and my feet feel marvelous!

My shoes will be Privo sneakers..I have 2 pairs and I can walk a lot with them. I plan on wearing capri's this August, because of my width I want to hide some of it and I have blouses to match my capris:) I make sure when I bought my capris that I had shirts at home to match. I know, why not buy a set, well, some of my shirts are so old....that they are cool and are still in great shape.. good luck with whatever you decide. We are all different.

I'd DIE in capris at Disney in July, lol. I am very warm blooded though-I get too hot in capris if it is over 70. I usually do shorts a tank and flip flops.
