I just learned that ressies can't be made for Cap'n Jacks. Has anyone been able to make ressies there by calling them directly?

What has been your experience in being a "walk-up" at this restaurannt? We'll be a party of 4 and wanted to dine there 9/2 - the Friday of Labor Day Weekend.

Thanks.....

you may not have a problem for lunch or during the afternoon, but for evening it might be different. this is not the best restaurant in DTD. there are others that are much, much better.

No reservations are accepted. On Fridays and Saturdays waits of an hour or more are the norm; and as the previous poster said, it's not the best restaurant (it gets my vote for worst sit-down restaurant in WDW). Come for lunch or midafternoon, order drinks and appetizers at the bar, and save the time and expense for someplace else.

Thanks for responding, Disney Queen. OK - if Cap'n Jacks is not the best, what other suggestions do you have? We're trying to maximize our MYW dining and need one other TS meal. We'll be spending this day in MGM. We're doing 50's prime-time for lunch and do not care for the other MGM TS options. We're not committed to DTD and are willing to go anywhere in WDW.

Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone else have any opinions about Cap'n Jacks?

We ate there a few days ago and they only take walk-ups. The girls told us the best time to come in is between 4-6 pm and you'll have no problem getting a seat. We went for a very early dinner at 4:30 and I think we were the only ones there. The food was okay, but I'm not a seafood lover. My family was happy with their choices, but for me, I wouldn't go back. The kids enjoyed Sci-Fi, we all loved LeCellier, Teppanyaki and Libery Tree for dinner. Enjoy! :flower:

Jack's is fine for a drink and appetizers, but I agree you can do much better. Great views, though!

Wolfgang Puck's is pretty good as is Portobello. Even Planet Hollywood has pretty decent food, though the noise level is not to my taste. Or try one of the resorts - California Grill at CR, Cape May Cafe at BC or Ohana at Poly.

Why not take the boat from MGM to the Boardwalk and eat at one of their many resturants. This is what we usually do for dinner when we go to MGM.

Excellent idea!! We had already decided to change our plans to the Boardwalk but I didn't think of the boat! Where do you pick up the boat at MGM?
