We'll be staying at the POFQ late sept/ early oct. :teeth: We want to take advantage of the boat ride into DTD for a dinner or two. Initially, we were interested in Cap'n Jack's, but when we tried to make our ADRs we were told that they take walk-up only. Should we risk the trip, or are there better choices in DTD that we can book ahead? All help would be appreciated.

My favorite spot is Portobello Yacht Club--but House of Blues and Bongos were nice also. And Raglan Road has been getting favorable reviews lately.

We ate at Cap. Jacks and did not care for it at all. They do have a GREAT Margurita bar next to the the place that has AWESOME Rum Runners.
For DTD we like Fultons, Rain Forest Cafe, Wolf Gang Puck at the Westside & Earl of Sandwich.

My mom has sentimental memories of Cap'n Jacks so we end up eating there once per trip regardless. She loves the margaritas and clam chowder. I think it's decent, not the greatest place but not as bad as some on these boards make it out to be (at least none of my experiences there have been).

We did the walk-up last month and were told it would be about an hour wait. We left and went to the margarita bar and had a drink or two (they are yummy) then went back to the restaurant and were told it would be another 20 minutes. Then we walked around shops for about 10, headed back and our table was ready. Right on the water, very nice view. We had a nice meal (more margaritas).

Cap'n Jacks does have some really nice views, and I don't find the wait to be intolerable since you can shop a little then come back. There are other great places to eat at DTD, though, like those mentioned above. We really LOVED the Earl of Sandwich (counter service) and Raglan Road (the bread pudding was to DIE for - that next to 'Ohanas bread pudding and I wouldn't need to eat again for a year!).

So many choices, too bad humans don't go into hibernation so they had an excuse to bulk up with food beforehand!!

That is a shame- I know when we went the were one of the few who took ADR's :confused3 We have eaten there twice and had a wonderful time both times! :)

I haven't been to Cap'n Jack's in a long time but they do make magnificent margaritas! We have ADRs at Fulton's Crab House, which used to be the Water Lily and it was French cuisine but now it seems to be geared more toward seafood, which is ok with me.

This trip will be the first time in a long time that we have eaten in DTD.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Despite the apparent lack of dining options in the resort, it seems to me that one of the advantages of staying at Port Orleans is that you're only a boat-ride away from a lot of dining options at DTD. I guess I'll rethink dinner that night. Maybe Raglan Road... I like Guiness. ::yes::
