I am making PS's next week for our trip and would love feedback on Cap'n Jacks. I think we are going to eat there the night we are in Downtown Disney. The menu looked good because we have the dining plan so price isn't a problem and they have our favorite appetizer, lobster as a main entree (yummy) and one of my favorite desserts (key lime pie). Anyone had good/bad experiences here we should know about??
Thanks,
Lesley

You skip Cap'n Jacks I think you will not be happy with lousy food and in general surly wait staff.Great view and ok a place for drink but I strongly suggest with all the great dining at DTD go to RFC,HOB,Wolfgangs etc.I'm giving you my honest opinion Cap'n Jacks would be my last choice.

I've read a lot of negative posts about Captn Jack's. But we ate lunch there last summer and we've been there before. Our waitress was nice and the food was good. I would rather go there then the RFC. The only good thing I had during our last visit was my Margorilla drink.

Grotesque. At least no one can say that Disney doesn't reuse any of its natural resources: some of the sludge from Lake Buena Vista was congealing on my shrimp pasta on our last visit. The service was pretty good though, which made the laughably bad meal more entertaining than it would have been.

You might want to call the restaurant and ask if there will be a surcharge on your lobster entree.Disney web site indicates there might be an extra charge.

YIKES, I didn't expect such horrible reviews. I had seen some mixed reviews, but after research on google today found an equally number of good one's too. Should we do ESPN club instead? I'm just worried about the hike from Downtown Disney to the boardwalk - we will be using Disney transportation and will be in DTD that night and have two small kids. I will call about the lobster entree. Thanks for all the advice.

We went one time to Captain Jacks and that is the last time. The food was terrible. The fettucine was absolutely horrible. None of our meals were even half good. It was so bad that we didn't finish our meals. We left and ate a different dinner some place later.

Geez, I can't believe this, does anyone like this place? We are just so limited in choices with the limitations of transportation and the dining plan. We were hoping to include this place with our DTD night with the kids (dinner and some shopping) after a day at the resort pool. I called and the lobster was included in the dining plan so that is a positive. Has anyone had the lobster??

My mom had the lobster. It was overcooked and chewy. If you want seafood why don't you go to Fultons? I have heard great things about that restaurant. If you want something decent go to the Rainforest Cafe. While I try to steer clear of chain restaurants on vacation, the RFC is wonderful compared to Captain Jacks. Why are you so set on this place anyway? If more then one person told me the food was bad then I wouldn't even consider going.

Terry,

The reason is because we have a limited budget and purchased the dining plan. I am very limited in my choices in the DTD area. Fultons isn't included and neither is Rainforest Cafe. We decided since have the 6 vouchers for sit downs that we've paid for that we won't pay for sit downs that aren't on the plan, just won't fit into the budget. It's not that I'm "set on this place', I am just trying to find somewhere decent to eat on the dining plan, there aren't many in DTD.

If your budget is limited then I would grab a sandwhich at Earl of Sandwhich or get a hot dog somewhere. You are wasting your money eating at Captain Jacks. It has got to be the worse place in Disney.

O.K., that was going to be my question- was there somewhere we could eat a fast food type dinner out down there. I guess we'll try to find transportation and eat at Spoodles instead, I've heard great things about that. thanks everyone.

Our family loves Cap'n Jacks. They have the best clam chowder there. We usually go for dinner on the day we fly in. DH loves the seafood pasta.

Last time I checked they didnt do PS, so if you decide to go, then go early.

Erika,

Thanks, it is great to hear something positive. I would love to eat there and avoid trying to take an additional bus to the Boardwalk to eat at Spoodles, but based on the overwhelming negative reviews I think we are going to skip it.

Hi, we ate lunch here last May and LOVED it. I too had read horrible things for yrs about the place, but we were tired and hungry and it was right at the water lanch from SSR so we went in. I had the clam chowder and a crab cake appitizer and DH had the clam chowder and a sandwich of some sort (cant get the menu to load, sorry!). We both enjoyed our meals and would eat here again.

If Cap'n Jack's is included in your dining plan and you have plans in the DTD area, give it a try. You are always going to get negative and positive opinions, take both into account when you make your decision, but do what will make you happy, because you may love it!
