We currently have adr for Raglan Rd for dinner. I am a little concerned with the menu and thinking about switching over to Cap'N Jack's. It will be dh,
dd(2), ds(4) and dm. Any thoughts?? We are going next month so I am not even sure I would be able to get a reservation

Where is Cap'N Jack's??? OMG I have to go there lol!

Cap'N Jacks was ok when we ate there last year. It was nothing to write home about. The food wasn't bad, but it was nothing that really stood out either. Personally, I would rather dine at Raglan Road, but then again, we don't have little kids, so your opinion might be very different because of the little ones.

Went there 3 years ago for the lobster (which isn't even offered anymore that I know of) and the place was empty. Lobster was rubbery and service wasn't too great. Food was definitely nothing to rave about all around.

Location was nice though. We had a window seat next to the river.

OMG, don't do it, just don't do it!!! Captn' Jacks is working very hard to earn "WORST FREAKIN RESTAURANT AT WDW"!!! Raglan Road is a gem and the food is fabulous, just fabulous.

I would choose the McDonalds at DTD anyday over CJ.....

WOW!! It sounds like I should just stick with Raglan Rd! I did call just to see if Cap'N Jacks had anyway availability and they did. Our trip is only 27 days away and I thought it was strange they still have offerings. They could not seat us until late so I did not take the reservation and now I am glad. I guess I am nervous because Raglan Rd is different food than we are use to but being the ddp we just just try it. It might be our best meal!

We ate at Capt. Jacks during our 2007 trip & it was nothing outstanding at all. I have little ones & it wasn't good for them either. Food was very blah & service was horrible.

I really think you will love Raglan Road. They have several daily specials that are not on the menu. I will tell you some of my favorite dishes on the menu: It's Not Bleedin' Chowder (I didn't think I would like this, but it is heaven with every bite), Kevin's heavenly ham and Paddy's Pork. Also, the beers are devine!!!!

I don't think I've EVER read any good reviews of Capn' Jacks! We ate at Raglan Road last year and it was great. Our kids (11, 9, and 5) loved it too! You MUST try Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding!!!!

we ate at captain jacks twice and had the double lobster tails..... yummy...... but when we found out that disney dropped the tails we cancelled our third trip to captain jacks........and haven't been back since:guilty:

HAHAHA maybe that is why I never heard of it.

Ok so does thing have anything to do with Pirates and Captain Jack Sparrow?? That was why I got all excited. I'm guessing No lol!

1) Captn' Jack's is good for cocktails and appetizers and relaxing.
2) It is mediocre-to-poor for dining.

Wow, different strokes for different folks. My family has eaten at Capt Jacks every year (04 - 08)! We love the steak and lobster tails. Never had a complaint about service or food. However, as I'm planning meals for this years trip, no steak/lobster tails on the menu! We will not be eating there this year.

:confused3

We're going to give Cap'n Jack's a try on our trip. My D is a picky eater, but they have 3 things on their menu she loves - caesar salad, pasta alfredo, and key lime pie. (We like blah food, not much on the Raglan Road menu appeals to us. ;) )

Oh, Lordy. Don't trade Capt. Jacks (which has been around before there was a Downtown Disney ... it harks back to the old Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village days and was known as Capt. Jack's Oyster Bar) for Raglan Road. We adore Raglan Road - it's our favorite spot at DD - and Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding is the best dessert in all of WDW, in my admittedly biased opinion. YMMV.

There's nothing really wrong with Jacks, but it sure isn't a place I'd return to with so many other options out there. Their menu looks great, but it's more than the kitchen can deliver. Plus, Raglan Road has great entertainment.

And, dear OP, you're absolutely right. Capt. Jack's has absolutely nothing to do with Pirates of the Caribbean. But that might make for a nice themed makeover one day, if they could do something with the food. Maybe a pirate's night menu like they offer on the Disney cruise ships.

Stick with Raglan Road! Captain Jacks is the worst in Disney in our opinion. YUCK!

As I've written before, it's a shame that the only Disney-operated restaurant in Downtown Disney – the only one remaining open from the late seventies – is such a dump. The location is ideal. Sad. Also bad.
