caphalon or other cookware set?

We have All Clad - a bit of an investment at first, but, we will never have to buy another set so well worth it :)

I bought a Revereware copper bottom set in 1993 and it is still going strong on a gas stove. Bottoms are no longer flat so it does not work well on a flat top electric. I mention this as buying new I would go with a really flat bottom to account for any changes in the type of stove you have.

Personally I would go with a really good stainless steel (no nonstick). Check out Bed & Bath and look closely at what is available. Compare prices. Chefs catalog online usually has good deals on sets too.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Taking notes and hoping to find a great Black Friday special!

I've had nothing but excellent results and experiences with this cookware. For the money, I think it's the best you can get. I may use silicone & wood utensils to cook with, and the blue scotchbrite pads to clean them, but I sure as heck don't baby them, and I don't put anything between them when storing. I honestly don't know what some of these other reviewers are talking about. I've had no difficulty cleaning around the rivets, either, and I don't make any superhuman efforts to do so. I've had this set (plus additional pieces in the Simply Calphalon line) for almost a year, use them everyday, and I love 'em to pieces.

I've had a Calphalon hard-anodized set for at least 10 years. I love them. I've even added to the original set. Nothing sticks. My previous set was Revere copper bottom that I gave my oldest DS. It was a wedding present from my ILs in 1981. That set had to be watched constantly as stuff burned easily (especially tomato based) unlike my Calphalon.

I have the Calphalon trip-ply 13 piece set $399 at bed bath and beyond and you can use 20% off. When I got it it also came with the everyday pan when you bought the set. My DH and I love to cook and this set is amazing! The only thing I do not cook in the pans is eggs. I have a small non-stick skillet for eggs. I always cook with a little oil and never have any issues with sticking. I HIGHLY recommend this set.

My DH just got this set for Xmas to replace our crappy cookware. He went to culinary school and was used to cooking on top of the line cookware from there and he said this set is fabulous! They are really well made, easy to clean and easy to cook in.

I have a Caphalon set and I don't like it. I've been replacing it piece by piece with All Clad. Taking me a while because All Clad is expensive. Caphalon didn't stand the test of time for me and what I really didn't like is the non-stick stuff coming up. My set was about $350, maybe a little more.

I got the Calphalon anondized non-stick professional series over 15 years ago. Lifetime warranty and in the past year we just started sending in a few pieces for replacement -- very easy to do.

They no longer make my original style so I've received replacements from the Unison line and they are excellent, I think they may actually be better, lol. Of course the real test will be how long they last.

Unfortunately, the 10-pc set is significantly over your budget.

I have this same set as well and it is about 18-19 years old. I have never had any issues with this set and it has more than served its purpose! I also have quite a few All Clad pieces. I like them equally but use each of them differently.

If you do purchase any All Clad pieces, you want to purchase the ones that are made in the US. They are the best. I believe these Emeril Line is made in another country and doesn't hold up as well.

Fortunately, I live near All Clad and can go to the factory sale twice a year to add pieces.
