Cape May Question

How difficult would it be to walk up and get into Cape may for dinner? I was thinking we might eat there the 1st night we are there, but don't really want to deal with the adr system. We have one for breakfast there, but that has characters. I'm thinking close to 8/830 on Sunday 6/14- do you think walking up would work? Or should I attempt the adr system? Thanks

I always say it is best to have an ADR if you can, but we did have a walk up experience at Cape May two years ago, when I arrived at Disney with pneumonia and was too sick to get to our scheduled ADR at the castle. We called the dining line and there were no availabe ADR's for that evening. My husband walked down to the restaurant and they said if we came right at opening, they would probably be able to seat us. We were there right at opening and sure enough, they seated us within 20 minutes. So, based on that, opening seemed like a good time to walk up. Other than that, you will probably be looking at a pretty long wait if they will be able to seat you at all. I know the restaurant sure filled up fast that night. Hope that helps.

Our last few visits we found that we have needed an adr at Cape May for dinner. BCV's are where we usually stay and we have been able to make last minute reservations for Cape May that day to get in for dinner. We really enjohy their buffet. No harm in making one and cancelling last minute.

Was there 2 weeks ago, walked up around 8:30 and was seated right away. That was probably because it was so late though.

In the past few years I have found Cape may has gained popularity and walk ups are not really all that possible anymore

If you're arriving to check into a Disney resort earlier in the day, there's a cast member in the Lobby at a sign labeled "Concierge". They can make any dining reservation in the system, and it's way easier to deal with requests "face to face".

You can check to see if there's an opening for dinner later that night.

I dont think you will be able to get in without a ressie, this is a very popular place. They open at 5:30 and I have seen the line start to form at 4:30! My motto is always make a ressie, even if you have to cancel it, make sure you get one...better safe then hungry

My DH is obsessed with Cape May, and I didn't make our one ADR there early enough in the trip to please him. So, when we were in the area, he stopped by and talked to one of the managers to see if we could get a same-day ADR. We were able to make a ressie for 5:30pm. The manager told us that 5:30pm is usually a sure bet when it comes to same-day ADRs. Anything later is hit or miss.

If you know where you want to eat and when you want to eat, then why in blue blazes would you want to gamble on not getting in? You don't need to call at 7 90 days out to get CMCB, so call midafternoon and it will take about 5 minutes, less time than to post and read answers.

Sometimes even easy calls to Disney Dining are more than 5 minutes, not to mention the system crashes, hard to understand CM's, etc, etc....

During our trip in February, we meandered over to Whispering Canyon Cafe. It was about 8:30 pm. Spoke to CM at hostess desk to see if we could do a walk up for 4. It was a 90 minute wait . I whip out my cell phone, Call Disney Dining as was able to get an ADR for 9 pm, a wait of only 30 minutes.....

I just called to try for my second time today to get ADR's for Le Cellier (no luck). Once through the automated system - a CM picked up immediately. I have been calling once or twice a day for about four weeks to try to get an ADR for Le Cellier and I have found if you call between 12:30 and 3:30 (central time) there is either a one to two minute hold time or none at all (usually the latter).
