After there being no openings, I now have the chance to do ADR for early breakafast in either Cape May Cafe or Chef Mickey. Which would you recommend? I am with two small kids (6 and 4), staying at Port Orleans French Quarter, and intending to head to MK for rope drop after the breakfast.

Thanks for any quick answers!:thumbsup2

Since you're going to MK afterwards, I'd go to Chef Mickey's. Breakfast begins at 7:00, and rope drop at MK is usually 9:00--you will probably have time to get there without problems, depending on how early you want to be there to get in line for RD.

Just in case you don't know, you can walk from the Contemporary (where Chef Mickey's is) to the MK in about 5 minutes.

Cape May breakfast doesn't start until 7:30 and you would have to catch a Beach Club/MK bus to reach the MK, which will take about 15 minutes or so, plus time waiting for the bus to arrive...unless you are driving.

Great! Thanks, I didn't know you could actually walk from Chef Mickey to the MK (although I stayed in the contemporary resort my only other time in Disneyworld in.. oh well, so long ago!:hippie:).
The reservation in Chef Mickey is for 7:40, would that not be early enough to make it for RD?! (I don't think I could manage any earlier anyway ).

Everyone's different...

but probably not.

If your ADR is for 7:40...

there is always a possibility that you may have to wait for your table (we have always had to wait at least 15 minutes at Chef Mickey's, even early breakfasts)

you would want to stay at CM's long enough to enjoy breakfast and visit with the characters

I guessing you probably wouldn't even leave until 8:45 at the EARLIEST. 5 minutes to get to the entrance of the Contemporary, 5 minutes to walk to the MK...puts you at 8:55--well, I guess you COULD make it for rope drop, but I think you'd be pushing it! Again, everyone is different. Our group likes to take our time and dawdle at the character meals.

Thanks again. I was thinking close to an hour too, but I hadn't realize we'd have to wait 15 minutes... (I just learnt that at CP you also have to wait with an ADR, what is an ADR for then? :sad2:).
Oh well, I guess that it doesn't make so much of a difference, to arrive a few minutes after rope drop... (I'm going to ask that question in the parks forum and I am sure I will get one hundred reasons why it makes a big differece :rotfl:).
I have booked the CM spot. Thanks for your help :thumbsup2

Ain't that the truth!!!

In my opinion, rope drop is important...but so is a fun breakfast at Chef Mickey's!

Have a great time!

I have to agree that it would be tough to make RP. Characters meals will take 60-90 minutes. Then as mentioned there may be a wait for a table and time to get to the park after.

In terms of food and experience I much, much prefer Cape May. IMO, it's the best all around restaurant....excellent food, service, atmosphere and characters.

In terms of food, Cape May hands down. We usually stay at BCV (home resort) and eat dinner there on check in day each trip. But NO characters there for dinner, just breakfast (at least that's how it used to be)

While many may still enjoy it, and obviously they DO, we were disappointed in Chef Mickey's on our New Year's trip to BLT. So much so, we will not be back anytime soon to CM. We noticed that the food was not as good as in the past, and the character interactions were also unorganized and, just ok. And it is alot of $$ to pay for an ok experience. And we are not very picky about things in general.
