Cape May or California Grill?

I'm trying to decide which my husband and I should do. As of now, I've got ressies for both, and there's no other availability during our trip. I'm hoping Cape May opens up for another night, but may not be likely. The Cali Grill ressie is at 9:30, so we could see fireworks, but we much prefer the seafood that looks to be on Cape May's buffet. What to do??

completely different experiences...mass feed v. signature dining. I really don't know which to recommend, as they are so radically different...would need more info on what you are trying to do....simply eat [and all you can] or have dining?

I agree but for us its a slam dunk for California Grill.

I agree. Not only is it a slam dunk, but add in the free throw as well for a three point play. :lmao: No comparison, Cape May is average buffet food while California Grill is a very pleasant culinary experience. :thumbsup2

I don't know why this struck me as funny...but it reminded me of my oldest son's friend stating while in high school that he is really good with his hands so he was thinking he should be a surgeon or perhaps a PLUMBER! :rotfl2:

That's kind of what this restaurant question brought to mind! Kind of a HUGE contrast!

I agree with the above posts but of it's crab legs, clams, and fish, then it's cape may. There may be fish on the CG check the menu.

We just ate at Cape May for dinner on Sunday night. We really enjoyed it! Best dessert so far...Oreo Bon-Bons!

How old are your kids? California Grill is great food, but its expensive, it takes a long time, and we finally made fireworks reservations - only to have them rained out the night we were there (and it was a ZOO!) The whole thing is sort of a big deal - particularly if you are staying at a different resort without a car. The food at Cape May isn't even in the same league, but my kids would enjoy it more (my husband hates seafood and I'm buffetophobic for the most part - so we haven't been despite the kids' plea to go)

Very different restaurants! We ate at Cape May last year and loved it! It is a seafood buffet specializing in all you can eat clams. CA Grill is more expensive but you will be able to see the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom if you are there at the right time. Hope this helps.

Cali Grill is our favorite. Food, service, are all top notch and the Fireworks viewed from the roof should not be missed. They also have plenty of seafood on the menu if that is your preference.

IMO, Cali Grill is a more memorable experience. Cali Grill can be one of the best meals at WDW. Enjoy your vacation.:cool1::banana:

DH and I have eaten here twice (without kids - considering we have 4 kids and 1 always brings a friend, way too expensive to do with kids!)... first time was on our honeymoon (September 2009)... food was AWESOME and we got a table right by the window with a fantastic view of MK and fireworks!! :lovestruc Second time we went was this past July and we had a HORRIBLE waiter... :sad2: did mention it to CG manager, though, and the next day we walked into our room at BWV to find a big white chocolate Mickey with about 4 big chocolate covered strawberries beautifully arranged on a plate (as well as a box to carry Mickey home in!) courtesy of our "friends at California Grill"... :thumbsup2 :cool1:
