We're thinking of trying the clam bake at Cape May. Is it good? What sorts of things do they serve? I looked at the menu on allears but wasn't sure if it changed? Is there more seafood than that? I have the planning DVD and they show lobster/crab being served when they talk about the clam bake.

Thanks!!

I love the clambake at Cape May, but I will tell you that I have never seen lobster & crab there :confused3
The menu on allears is pretty accurate. The seafood consists of clams & mussels, some boiled shrimp, clam chowder and a fish of the day. The rest of the buffet is non-seafood. I love eating bowl (or sometimes pails) of clams & mussels :thumbsup2 The rest of the buffet is very good as well and make sure you hit both dessert sections (there's a seperate dessert buffet up by the hostess stand that has the oreo bon bons on it) :goodvibes

I have been eating there since 1995. Yes at one time you could have a lobster added to your buffet meal for $10.00. The cost for the buffet was only around $20.00. This was one of the best kept secrets of WDW until Al Gore invented the Internet. In 1997 the Main lobsters were replaced by crab legs. Still a good deal at $10 bucks. That lasted only a short time and over the years other foods have been removed and the price just keeps going up. Oysters used to be part of the buffet as was one of my favorites fried shrimp. The shrimp was on the kids buffet but I was never intimidated and would always feast on them. I primarily just eat the steamed little neck clams now. They are delicious but not as good as the type of clams we have here in New England.
I still eat at the Cape May but not every trip like the old days. If you like clams then it is the place to be. You see my problem is that every time I go I keep comparing it to what it once was. Uncrowded and $10 lobster:love:
P.S.
In my signature there is a link to my trip report videos. We did eat there on that trip and the CMC is featured in one of the segments. It was a few years ago so I can't remember the exact day we went on but I think it was around day 4 or 5:confused3

I enjoyed it immensely But I have a seafood allergy so I didn't eat any of that( Dh did though). They no longer have crab or lobster available. If you are a Huge seafood fan, you may be disappointed

The last time we were there, there was one crabby lady at the buffet but no crab legs!

This is the only meal at WDW I will never return to. We stayed at BC last October and were too tired to make our ADR at the Studios. We were able to walk up and were seated very quickly. The offerings were very below average for a Disney buffet. Greasy BBQ chicken, some salads, pasta dishes etc. There were clams and mussels that were fine but really no other seafood. The desserts were average at best. Even the oreo bon bons to me seemed gummy and unappealing. There are so many better palces to eat in the Boardwalk/Beach Club area, I would go to one of those instead.

The last time we stayed at the BCV, we had breakfast there just about every day (convenient and my daughter loved it). We used to love it for their dinner buffet, but that was years ago (when you could add on the lobster, and they had oyster crackers in carafe's on the table). Now it's ok and I might consider doing it again, but it's not something we rush to reserve.

Cape May is my DH's favorite restaurant at WDW. (I'm more of a Kona gal!) We eat there at least once every trip. During March, we ate there twice. We also have an ADR for May. (On a Thursday, so I can get the fried tilapia....yummmm!)

I like it because there is a nice variety of foods on the buffet. If someone doesn't like seafood, they can still find plenty to eat. If you do like seafood, well then, you'll be in heaven. Just save room for the Oreo bon bons!

I also have an ADR for May but I didn't know that certain nights had different fish? Do you know where I can find that info? I have an ADR on a Wednesday.

Thank you for all the information, it is MUCH appreciated!!!! I'm having a hard time deciding on another ADR...I think I'll post a thread about it actually.

And yes, is there a way to find out what each day of the week offers?

Thanks!!

We lucked out, and they had the fried tilapia on the Friday night we were there in March. I asked our server when they usually serve it, and she said they have it on Thursday and Friday nights. (I've also read that on the boards here, too.) Other than that, I've never seen an official list. However, the food has always been the same on nights when we've been there with the exception of the fish of the day.
