Cape May for Dinner?

We leave Sept. 5th but are having second thoughts about one of our reservations. Since we are staying at the Beach Club we thought maybe we should cancel a reservation so we can eat at Cape May for dinner, granted we do have an ADR for the breakfast they have. The only ADR we are willing to give up is Raglan Road (which we love, but one might have to go). So, is Cape May buffet good? and reviews? would you cancel Raglan Road for Cape May?

My husband and I love the Cape May Buffet. It is one of our must dos for every trip.
We both love steamed clams and he loves the mussels too so we really get our monies worth.
There are great seafood selections as well as non seafood selections. I think it is a great meal.

We love Cape May and it is a place that DH wants to eat at on every trip for breakfast and dinner. The food is always good and there is plenty of different items to choose from...we will be there in Oct and really looking forward to it

I actually just did almost the same thing. We had an ADR at Sci-Fi for dinner. My DS 9 really wanted to eat there again. We had a family meeting and decided to cancel that dinner and eat dinner @ Cape May Cafe. We are also staying @ the BCV and have a breakfast already scheduled there. I have heard such good things about both meals there. We are really looking forward to it.

Last visit, we ate at Cape May and had a delightful evening.. lots of food so make sure you bring your appetite..

We ate at Cape May Wednesday for the first time. We enjoyed it. We ate more of the non-seafood items, like sliced prime rib, barbequed pork ribs, and chicken. My DH did enjoy the salmon. We didn't have mussels or clams - we're not big fans. Our meal was very enjoyable. The area around the buffet gets a little crowded, depending on what time you're there. We had a 6:40 p.m. reservation, so it was a busy time, especially with Free Dining.

We didn't think the desserts were too special, but we certainly had plenty to eat and everything was good.

Please tell me you didn't try an oreo bon-bon and still came away with that opinion. Those alone are worth the price IMO.

Cape May Cafe is an absolute MUST for us. We ate there last Monday night and the food was, as usual, very good. We are big clam eaters but the other food is also plentiful.

Honestly, we wouldn't go to WDW without going to Cape May at least once. We had a ressie messed up at a DTD rest and tried to get back into Cape May that night for a second time. It really is worth it. Actually, the rest that closed unexpectedly for the night tried to send us to Raglan Rd instead but we opted to go back to Olivias.

WE also love Cape May and plan another dinner there when we arrive in January. Have never tried Raglan Road, so I can't coomment on it though.

I did not have an Oreo bon bon. I guess I'll have to go back to Cape May on our next trip to see what I missed

What is the possibility of being seated at Cape May without an ARD? I might add that we will be staying at the BC over Christmas and while all of our ARDs have been made for months, we have a few unplanned days where we could attempt to dine "spontaneously." TIA.

The first time we ate at CMC we did so without reservations. You may have to wait 20 - 30 min. depending on the time of year that you are visiting. It's worth the wait.

We used to love Cape May, but our last trip was horrible. Service was great, but not much seafood variety for a clam bake. It has been a couple of years now, so I hope the more recent reviews are a sign of a turn around!

The first time we went the CM making my reservation had it for March 10th but we needed Feb 10th at 5:30. The hostess was able to sneak us in since they first opened and it was their mistake not ours, she did say they were sold out and not taking any walkins so we were lucky.

We went back in April and had reservations, they were sold out that night and turning every walk up away

We love going to the clambake and make a point to eat there every vacation to WDW.

We were at Cape May last Wednesday evening. It was our first time there, and I wasn't too sure we would like it. There were seven of us. We loved the meal! My one DGD doesn't like any type of seafood and she was able to eat her fill and then some!!! The other DGD loves any seafood but had never tried clams before. She is now clamlover! The girls and my son's step-grandson were celebrating their birthdays this trip and so they were given an extra dessert. That was the only thing that they (and I) didn't like. Everything else was wonderful. The peel and eat shrimp, the roast beef, the ribs, and the veggies were fantastic! I will be eating here again next year!

My only problem there was, getting to the resort! The girls and I had to go to MGM and take the boat. That wasn't the problem. Getting back to our resort was the problem! We were told to take a bus from the resort to TTA and then to our resort. There was no bus to the TTA from the Yacht resort.
We went to Epcot, took the Monorail to the Contempery and took the bus back to our resort! My son and his family drove and I think that is really the best thing. Next year, I will be getting a taxi to return to our resort!

We ate there for the first time last Sept. and loved it - especially my DH! I couldn't talk him into trying something different this year . We do it on our MGM day - we take the boat over and then take it back to MGM and get our resort bus there. As long as you're not expecting an extensive seafood buffet - I think you'll enjoy it.
