Wondering if Cape May Clam Bake Buffet is worth it when one in a party of two is not a big seafood fan. I see that they have ribs, but since the main point of the meal is Clams, etc, are the ribs good enough to go there?

Thanks!

There is more than enough at the Cape May Clambake to keep a non-seafood eater happy. I'd say that the seafood is about 1/4 of the food available. There are also other hot items, a full salad bar and the desserts. Definitely give it a try!

my husband refuses to eat seafood of any kind, but Cape May was his favorite dinner! There was chicken and ribs that he really enjoyed.

We ate there a couple of years ago. My kids and I do not touch seafood only my husband eats it. It was one of our favorite meals of the trip. My DH was happy as a clam:rolleyes1 with his seafood and the kids and I were loving the corn on the cob, the chicken, potatoes and all the other yummy food on the buffet.

Also the dessert are some of the best I have seen on a buffet in disney.:worship:

Have fun!

Ok, Here I go again. My DW will not eat clams or muscles. That said, I love cape may I also love clams and muscles. But there is much more on the menu for non seafood lovers.

I viewed the review from one of the previous posters. Very good review. I would agree the clams need some dipping broth, I am from Connecticut and grew up on clams and muscles, we always served them with broth. They do have two different kinds of melted butter. There is always a fish on the buffet some days it is fried some days it is baked.

The shrimp in the review was peel and eat so there is no spice in it.
There are a lot of other menu items for the non seafood lover. There are the ribs that are IMO wonderful, there is a carving station for prime rib, there are the sausage and Peppers, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, there is a large variety of cold salads ( they have the best Caesar salad I have ever eaten. confirmed by my friend I took the last time without ever asking). They have some of the best mashed potatoes and green beans, they have corn on the cob and baby red potatoes.

There are many great deserts to chose as well. I just got back on the 9th and they have also permanently added crab legs to the bar.
Hope this helps with your decision. I have been there 6 times in a year and have never had a bad experience and my wife is not a seafood lover and she likes it as well. Whatever you decide have a great trip :thumbsup2

My MIL is one of the least adventurous eaters I know, and she doesn't like seafood. She really enjoyed this buffet, as there was baked chicken, salads, sides, and her favorite ASPARAGUS!!!

It was a really nice evening, and everyone in our party of nine had just what they wanted. Just wish our stint in Dec 2008 was a little warmer so that we could enjoy the beach before dinner!

Does anyone know what the current price per adult is for the clambake? Also, when does the holiday pricing take effect and how much more per person would that be? I will be there the week of Dec 13th. Thank you.

Mermaid, thanks for the review. I've been thinking about the clambake for the past few trips but neither DH or myself eat seafood, well....he does like shrimp. DS on the other hand loves all thingd seafood including the clams and mussels. Since it is DS birthday meal, figured we would go there. The desserts look delicious! Dh loves ribs and chicken and if all else fails, I will eat nuggets and pizza from the kiddie station lol There are just so many things that I don't like ;)

DH and I ate here and I picked it purely because he loves sea food. I can't stand it. I did find plenty to eat and DH was a happy camper. In fact he mentioned it to me just a few days ago and we were there in April!

If I'm being honest though, my absolutely favorite thing was the Oreo truffles from the dessert buffet. Quite possibly my favorite dessert of the trip...:lovestruc

You guys sold me!! I'm going to give it a try.

One question that has NOT been asked; the smell. Does the restaurant have a heavy "fishy" smell. Not only does DH not eat anysort of seafood, but the aroma upsets his stomach. He can deal with a "fresh" smell, but if the restaurant has a heavy seafood aroma I may have to try it alone!! ;)

Thanks for all your replies. I can see that the Clam Bake would work out just fine for someone that isn't crazy about all kinds of seafood. We are staying at the BCV, so I thought the Clam Bake would be a good first night meal.

It sounds like Cape May would be perfect then. Something for everyone!
Enjoy!:wizard:

We tried the CMCB this trip and were underwhelmed. It wasn't bad, just not as good I'd hoped. We found the lines to be insane, and it was really tough to do our normal one parent get the kid a plate, and then swap out getting our own as the lines were forever long, and by the time one would get through the line the little one was ready to be "Done"......also, for the price we had much better food during the week....

We ate at Cape May for dinner for the first time on our trip week before last. We were very pleasantly surprised and it turned out to be one of our favorites from the trip. I didn't eat the non-seafood meats, as I thoroughly enjoyed the fried fish, peel & eat shrimp, and crab legs. However, both of my children & husband had some. My husband commented that the chicken was good & my son liked the carved beef. The caesar salad was the freshest & best I had all week, and I really like caesar salad! There was also a delicious fresh fruit salad that had just a hint of mint. And I agree that the desserts were to die for!

As for the smell, I didn't notice a smell at all on the evening we dined there. Not even when we approached the restaurant or were waiting just outside of it to be seated. However, the next evening, after swimming, we came into the resort right by Cape May and were "hit" with a seafood smell. It wasn't overpowering or too fishy, but you knew there was seafood nearby.

I was taking a look at the menus on allears and it states that beverages are seperate. Can anyone confirm that drinks are not included in the price of the buffet? (which by the way, disney quoted as $30.88 per adult for my date in December)
