Has anyone eaten at the Cape May Clam Bake Dinner Buffet at the Beach Club? Looking at the menu it looks great! I am a vegetarian, but a not vegan. So basically i just do Not eat meat, but do enjoy seafood. My hubby is a meat eater, so this place has something for the both of us. I would love to hear what everyone has to say about this restaurant. Also is it a dressy restaurant or casual? Is the food worth the price?

Yes, we ate there earlier this year. You should both find plenty to eat. The buffet is basically set up on a square island in the center of the main dining room. One side is salads/soup/fruit. One side is "standard American": chicken, ribs, potatoes. One side was mainly a roast meat carving station. And one side was seafood. Endless crab legs are always on the seafood section; the only item that rotates is fried shrimp/fried calamari/fried fish fillet.

The desserts are tucked away up towards the entrance, and the offerings on the two sides WERE different. Make sure you find the Oreo bon-bons.......

We thought the food was pretty good. We did not think the crab legs were small, or stringy, or watery, or overcooked/undercooked, or any of the other complaints I sometimes see on the DisBoards. And we certainly ate more than our fair share. Did I mention that next to the crab legs they have stacks of buckets to put on your table to hold the shells? And that next to that is a ginomous urn of hot melted butter to dunk your crab in? mmmmmm.......

No, it's not dressy at all. Standard park attire. You wouldn't want to drip butter on good clothes, after all. I can't speak to the price as we were on DDP, so it just "cost" 1 TS credit.

We enjoyed the clambake, and my DD requested we return on our trip next month. It has a nice variety, should be able to please anyone with many choices. As with most Disney restaurants (excluding signatures), it is pretty casual. You would feel comfortable there with park attire. Hope you have a good time!:goodvibes

Just ate there on Thursday night. The food was very good. The trays are rather small so they are replenished frequently.

I remember clams, mussels, crab legs, calamari, seafood pasta, Portuguese beef stew, ribs, flank steak, mac and cheese, pizza, chicken nuggets, rolls, corn bread, soup (one seafood one not), salad (caeser, mozzerella and tomatoe, couscous salad, melon salad, green salad), olives, corn on the cob and a few things I can't recall.

Definitely one of the better buffets. We were on the DDP so I'm not sure about the price but my family would definitely be back.

We really enjoy Cape may for dinner and they do have a huge selection of seafood and salads on Friday nites they have special fish each week but always have seafood. we also like the breakfast there with Goofy and pals.it is casual type place. also Bomas has both and so does Tusker House and Kona's Grill as well as O Hana's has seafood and meat. they are all worth the prices.IMO:thumbsup2

UMMMMMMMM, yum, yum. It was really good this year when I went.
Last time I went, 2009, not so good. I think it is worth the price for what you get, compared to other Disney dining. We don't have anything remotely similar here, landlocked. So I can't say it we get so much better at home, like so many do. No pretending "I know my seafood" here. Just a midwesterner who really enjoyed it, and paid OOP, not DDP.

especially in your case. I have the opposite situation and hubby is vegan. We always enjoy this place.

It's best if you are using Disney transportaion to do this place on an Epcot day or Hollywood Studios day; so, you can use the boats to get back and forth.

DH prefers the meat offerings and I prefer the seafood, so it's a regular dining experience for us!:thumbsup2 DH does enjoy shrimp and he was tempted one time to do the peel and eat shrimp, and it won him over. He does meat and some peel and eat shrimp!:thumbsup2

We're eating there next on NYE!

Go ahead and give it a shot. I think you'll both find plenty of good things to eat.

We were there the end of May and really enjoyed it seafood lovers and non both.

There are some pictures and our take on it here.

Hope this helps some. :)

Love Cape May! Plenty of fruits, veggies and other non-meat items available. We love eating here. :thumbsup2

We went for the first time last September and it is on our list as a must-do regular now! Everyone is my fam LOVED it - oh the crab legs mmmmm, can't wait till this September. You will not be disappointed, lots for meat-eaters and vegetarians!
We left alot of butter and crab leg juices on the table - so ya, casual dress required!
Excuss me while I salivate!!!!

We enjoy Cape May very much! On every trip me make it a point to get there! Casual attire is perfectly fine. For us, the price is reasonable for the variety of food, atmosphere and service. Those crab legs are delish!!

Wow thanks everyone!! You made this very easy for me. Went a head and made the reservations for next week! Excited to get to WDW and to try a new place for dinner. Reading all your posts definetly made me hungry. We will prolly go to Epcot that day and then head over to Cape May for dinner. Thanks again everyone! See ya real soon...
