For our first night in Disney we are going to eat at CMC for the clam bake. We have never done the clam bake before just the breakfast there so I was just wondering how the clam bake is?

We ate there last night. Loved it! Crabs legs, fall off the bone bar b Q ribs, excellent mashed potatoes. Service was great. Restaurant is beautiful.

We have been to Disney probably over 25 times...we have eaten at the clam bake probably about 12 times....we love it!:goodvibes

IMHO

We've "done" the Cape May Clambake about 3-4 times.... we've stayed at Beach CLub...

It was a great meal for our family as a buffet.... we've had very picky teens....
But I would not consider it a "Destination" meal.....

It is very similar to all Disney Buffet's .... same mashed potatoes, yum... same ribs.. yum... same carving station ... yum...

But also has mussels and clams.

Most Disney buffets have boiled shrimp... which the kids lOVE....

we've not been with the crab legs.... that would add to the attraction...

We are not going back there in May... so many other dining options to consider...

Have a magical visit !

Mary

in 65 day we have reservations there everybody we have talked to said it is the best deal at Disney you can eat the price if the buffet just in crab legs!!! and we have been coming to Disney every year since 1995 and have never taken the time to try it.. we always go to the Polynesian :confused3

We love it!! Right now we're planning (pretend planning right now, but hopefully for real soon;)) another trip. And whenever I ask everyone where they would like to eat at again, Cape May is always at the top of the list! Crab legs and Oreo Bon Bons!!

Cape May Clambake is one of my favorite places to eat! Love the food, it is excellent! They have a big variety. Snow Crab legs are great!:)

Sounds like a great recommendation from fellow Michiganders! Looking forward to a great week at the Beach Club in May!

Just FYI: I am allergic to shellfish but when DH and I went there was plenty food for me to choose from also. We go places where he and I can get what we want so we are both happy. All the food was great I thought plus we got cupcakes for our anniversary. That is good too because the desserts are seriously lacking there. That would be my only complaint.

I'm not a seafood lover but Cape May was very good. My wife and niece love seafood, especially crab and they said it was very good. For me I enjoyed the ribs and carved meats and salads so was fine.

Just before dinner we wandered onto the beach where they had a campfire to let us roast a few marshmallows. Good fun!

It's one of my absolute favorites for dinner, but DH could do without! LOL! There's a wide assortment of foods from seafood, ribs, salads, etc... and at that time they had the mini-chocolate lava cakes :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Given the incredible decline in food quality over the past years, Cape May is STILL one place (and one of the few I can count on 1 hand that Disney operates) we'll go to we go back to. After our 18 years of visiting we still love it and just THOROUGHLY enjoyed it 2 weeks ago. It's on our "must do" list for breakfast AND dinner again in Oct. ENJOY! :cheer2:

We always go to Cape May Clambake and it seems to have retained its quality but the desserts, I agree, are lacking. When we first used to go there, they would have entire cakes that you could cut yourself, really excellent. Now the area is very small and few choices for desserts. The cookies are good though.

we will never go back again food was not worth it. Overpriced 40 per person.
they have cut back ontheir food and it showed. do it once and see what you think everyone has a different feeling. for us never again.

I thought the food was good but not great. There were a few memorable dishes such as the ribs, oreo bon bons and panko crusted fish. There were also many bland dishes, and I didn't care for any of the salad offerings. Service was efficient but not friendly. I won't book Cape May for our next trip, but I certainly don't regret eating there.

Make sure you check the menu as certain days of the week they add shrimp, and I can't remember what they add the other days.

Gosh, despite my best efforts to hold back at dinner, I NEVER make it to the dessert table. NEVER EVER. :rotfl: I suppose that's protected my view. ;) DH liked what he had though. He LOVED the Oreo bon bons! But I didn't ask him about comparing to previous visits.

I wonder if what you get for an anniversary depends on what they have going that night? I'd have preferred a cupcake but we got some kind of a bon bon (not the oreo one) 2 weeks ago. So did the couple dining next to us. Oh well, I had no room anyway. I took a taste and DH polished it off. :)

We just ate there for the first time last weekend. I really liked it! I mostly ate the crab legs and the corn bread was yummy too. It was crazy busy in there, but the service was great. I also enjoyed the cookies for dessert :)

:thumbsup2 Also clam chowder is excellent ;) Don't understand the posters that mentioned the lack of desserts - we have always found lots of variety. We love the flan and oreo bon-bons, key lime tarts, - well, just everything :woohoo: Can't wait to go back in April (2-3 times will be at CMC) :goodvibes

I wouldn't presume to speak for them, but my bet is that it's the fact that they are very different from past years. I do remember seeing whole cakes on that "table" before. Things bigger than little finger food desserts which was still yummy... just not the same. I just never get to the desserts because I'm maxed out on space (in my stomach) after half a plate of food.
