Just cancelled Kona Cafe for Cape May Cafe clam bake. Anyone have reviews they want to share that have been recently? I do not care for seafood but my husband loves it and the menu looked pretty decent for land lovers! Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

NOTE: Average food quality. This is not the
quality level of a New England buffet. Due to
this, a little overpriced for the quality. They
do have crab legs, but the smaller and lessser
quality legs.

We go annually. My kids don't really eat seafood, but always want to go there. For me, the seafood is usual WDW buffet fare, adequate, not spectacular. Plenty of options for all, great desserts.

My family all enjoys this meal-most of us like seafood, but there is plenty of variety for everyone. We make a point to return every trip. Hope you enjoy!:)

I have this booked for our July trip based off of my trip last November. I really enjoyed the food, and although I love seafood, the non-seafood selections were pretty yummy too :)

We had always done breakfast and not the clambake because my son and I don't like seafood. But we went last Sept with my cousin's family-they do like seafood. I loved it-lots of options for non-seafood eaters. The salads and desserts were awesome. :thumbsup2

My family and I love Cape May and I don't eat seafood. The penne pasta dish is sooooo good :cloud9: as was the Lobster Tortellini but they took it off the menu :sad1: Overall, it is a great meal and even as a last resort the mac and cheese is better than the usual disney mac and cheese :thumbsup2

We are going for the first time in Nov to Cape May. Looking forward to it as a buffett fits are needs so all can choose what the want plus we have 2yr twins to feed off our plates which buffetts help to stretch the dollar.:)

We were at Cape May Cafe last Tuesday and really enjoyed our meal there. We were a party of 7 with seafood and non-seafood lovers. There was plenty of food for all of us. That night they had mussels, clams, crab legs, mahi mahi and a cold seafood dish of shrimp, pasta, dressing, etc... The non-seafood included a cut of beef, BBQ chicken and ribs, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and of course the children's buffet and salad buffet.

I did not eat the seafood that night and I was fine. I am normally a seafood lover but by Tuesday we had eaten so much rich food that I could not face another meal of food dipped in butter! :)

The line to go to the buffet was always quite long on the evening we were there and the restaurant was very crowded but we did not feel crowded. Our server was competent but missing that little something extra. We had to ask for refills, etc... they just weren't brought to the table as they were the rest of the week. Nothing horrible just she was busy.

My DS(8) is GF and this was one of his favorite restaurants because he had so many choices and they provided GF rolls and flan for him. He had never had flan before and found out he loved it.

I do have pictures but as my home computer crashed the day we got home and I am using my work computer right now I can not load pictures yet but will hopefully later this week.

Hope this helps some!

Will be trying Cape May for the first time in a couple of weeks. I'm wondering if they have shrimp on the buffet every night or just on certain nights?

We ate at Cape May last Monday and had a great meal. I was a bit worried b/c our meal in November was NOT the best due to seating and our waiter, along with just average food.
This time the food was excellent! We did have to wait about 10 minutes after the restaurant opened to be seated, but liked our location, and had a great waiter. The food lines filled up fast though, and they are very disorganized. Food was hot and good, and the desserts were just above average.
I enjoyed the rolls, beef, baby reds, and mac & cheese the best (not a seafood lover), while one of my ds's and dh both loved the crab legs and went back for seconds.
Overall, it was MUCH better than our last visit. Great service and good food.
Hope you have great luck too! :thumbsup2

I don't believe they change most of the buffet as I have been there 3 different days during the year and have had the same foods. They do change the soups nightly though.

There is a rotation.

The last I heard, the menu items that vary are:

M W Sat - fried shrimp
Tues Thurs - fried calamari
Sun Fri - fried cod

The other offerings stay about the same

We were there last week. I booked it because my husband wanted to try it but I was not looking forward to it. I am not a buffet person and while I love seafood, I am also very picky about how it is prepared and tend to avoid it at a buffet. That being said, this dinner was a wonderful surprise! There was a poblano pepper encrusted tilapia that was absolutely delicious. The crab legs were terrific and my daughter who swears she HATES seafood had 2 plates of them. The roast beef was also great and the dessert bar was fantastic. This has become a must do on our next trip.
