Any reviews on the Cape May Cafe dinner buffet? I enjoy a good clambake and I think I read that they have ribs - my favorite!

My other question is how easy is it to walk from the International Gateway to the Beach Club? Are there signs so I don't get lost?

I'm not into seafood but I loved this buffet! The dessert (Oreo Bon Bons the highlight) is great! I would definitely do this again!

We got lost going there, but there is a map soon after the hill/turn off (that goes to Boardwalk) so you can get your bearings there.

We'll be going after a day at Discovery Cove and its also the 4th of July. I wanted to go somewhere within walking distance from the Dolphin and Cape May Buffet is what we decided on. I know there are quite a few negative reviews ,but I also know
everyone has their own opinion.

Hi
We enjoyed the food there. It's not the best, but it was good. My DD loved the clams and I had a pasta dish that was just delicious. We're going back in
August. I have to get the Oreo bon bons again. They make it worth the trip!!

We've gone quite a few times and have always enjoyed it :) Clams, mussels, a fish of the day, peel & eat shrimp, clam chowder and that's just some of the offerings on the seafood side. There's ribs, chicken, pasta, pizza & a salad bar. Kids have their own buffet as well (although some adults seem to enjoy it too) chicken strips, hot dogs, mac & cheese and then there are the desserts :goodvibes

BC is very easy to get to from the International Gateway. You can take the Friendship or just walk (5-10 minutes) When you walk, just stay straight/to the right. Just before you get to Stormalong Bay (main pool) is the "main back entrance" to the BC,turn right & walk up to the building and you'll be in the lobby, turn left and you'll be at Cape May Cafe.

We went a few times, in the beginning it was awesome then the last 2 times it just was eh...the food was cold and dried out, not replenished quickly etc.

The ribs are awesome, my fav item on the buffet

We will go again but not for a while, too many other great places to try out

Really enjoyed it when we were there in Jan - something for everyone. My picky kids even tried the mussels! I'm not too big into seafood but DH is and was quite happy. They had plenty of other options and a fabulous salad w/ a citrus dressing. I didn't try the ribs so no help to you there - sorry. Oreo Bon Bons are fantastic!

Very easy to get around the Epcot/Boardwalk area. To get to the International Gateway to the Beach Club is essentially a straight shot as long as you stay right as previous posters mentioned.

Have fun!

This has always been one of my favorites, but it was just "so-so" Sunday night. The ribs were room temp and the clams that weren't down in the broth were all dry and crackly looking.
It was a really slow night at the Clambake, so maybe that explains some of it. I was able to reschedule and get ADRs 3 times waiting on my sis and her plane, and when we finally got there it was mostly empty- 8:30ish. It was very disappointing, in any case.

DH and I ate there a couple weeks ago. We LOVED it. :woohoo: DH must have eaten 6 dozen clams. I thought the ribs, fish and pasta were excellent. We will definitely be eating here again!

We ate there late one night when we stayed at BCV in January. The Clams are really just ok. We liked mussels, clam chowder, and the desert. I like having it right downstairs. But I would not go out of my way especially from Epcot just to eat there.

I'm hoping it will be good in March. We ate there several years ago and my son has never forgotten how much he liked it and his main goal in revisiting WDW is to go to Cape May Buffet

From all these reviews it sounds like something I would enjoy. And thanks to ChelleinNC for the directions!

And we enjoyed it. We took a Friendship over to BC, although the walk is not bad either. We were one of the first parties seated, and all the food was presented nicely. The clams were good, although one bucket of them was extremely sandy. DH enjoyed the mussels, and I liked the clam chowder. The ribs were good, nice sauce. Lots of nice salads and side dishes. Very nice desserts, there are some on the main table and a somewhat less noticeable side buffet of desserts by the door you come in. Don't miss the flan if it is offered! I thought the decor was nice, and don't forget to check out the sandcastles in the plexiglass cases! Have fun!

1) If you are used to a true New England Clam Bake, it is "average".
2) If you are used to a Midwest Clam Bake, it is "quite good".
3) Either way, it is more than acceptable and tasty.

I agree with Rusty Scupper.
We are New Englanders and for us it was just "okay". Nothing wrong with it, but we have such awesome clambakes here at home that they are hard to live up to.
There are so many wonderful restaurants at WDW that we have not gone back. It was not bad, but not our favorite.

This is one of my favorite Disney buffets simply because of the variety of food items offered. Something for everyone from the shellfish, to the carved beef, to the really nice chicken, ribs, pasta dishes, vegetables, mash, salad offerings and the desserts. All nice! I've been when it wasn't so great, but the majority of my visits (and trust me on this, there have been many) have been very nice. I too love the flan!

You can also walk there right out of the IG without going up the hill. The the left of the uphill walkway is another walkway along the canal. It takes you under the bridge and brings you out just by the quite pool buildings. Saves you from walking uphill!

We went on the last night of our trip. After having 8 nights on the DDP we were not in the mood for another meal. We had no complaints at all about Cape May, in fact we all felt that we would have really enjoyed it if we had started our week there.

The seafood was not the best I've ever had but it was OK and plentiful. The other food was good, I thought the variety was quite good. The restaurant itself was really nice and the service was excellent.

We will definitely try it again.
