Just wondering if anyone has tried the Clam Bake Buffet at the Yacht and Beach Club?

The menu on Deb's site looks fantastic, just wondering if the food and atmostphere are worth the price?

It looks like there are seafood and non-seafood choices for different types of appetites.

Would you recommend for two couples?

We like it a lot. We are no seafood eaters, and find plenty their to eat. The offerings are really good. I love the Beach Club in general for their atmosphere, so I would say that the Cape May is a great choice.

We've always thought that the CMC was over rated on these boards...........everyone seems to have a great review of it.....my family thought it was "just average" food-wise, atmosphere-wise.................compared to other restaurants at WDW................

JMHO...I think, with just two couples, you guys could probably do much better than CMC..........

We ate there last Thursday. I was ready to love it. I had seen the menu and thought it sounded great. We took the advice on the boards to go early because the quality was generally better. Boy were we disappointed! The peel and eat shrimp were so cooked they were mealy (think canned shrimp texture) The clams and mussels were also way over cooked. The ribs were in a sauce that tasted like plain old catchup. I did have a very good oreo cookie mousse type thing for dessert that was the highlight of the whole experience. We won't be going back.

We Always go to the buffet at Cape Mays but 2 years ago they cut back on everything. It is still special to us and is worth it just for the fabulous desserts. Usually the seafood is just right. We like the atmosphere too!

Excellent seafood and great desserts. The clambake is a highlight of every trip we make to WDW. Enjoy! ::MickeyMo

I would compare their buffet to Shoney's. Did not care for it.

YUCK, youwant nice seafood, come to New England , legal seafood. I agree with SAWYERMAW1 It is as bad as shoneys, I ate there once and never again, same as CMB

I would recommend Jiko or Boma, instead.

Shhhhh, I know how to make the Oreo Bon Bons and have some in the fridge right now. They are great, but worth 26.99 or whatever it is. :teeth:

We like it - but we are steamed clam eaters. I have to agree about the shrimp - although I find that on every buffet I feel their shrimp are way over cooked!

I think someone needs to share the recipe to the oreo bon-bons. Because to a chocholic, yes - those are worth $26.99.

Thanks to everyone who replied!

(And BTW, the Oreo Bon Bon recipe is on Deb's site, www.allearsnet.com)

Anyway, I'm wondering if the quality of the seafood has to do with where one lives. I'm from Michigan, where we obviously do not have an abundance of fresh clams, shrimp, lobster, etc. So, even moderately good seafood would probably impress me.

I think we are going to try and make a PS for our trip next week. Thank you!

Good choice! Cape May is my favorite restaurant at Disney! :teeth:

I'm from the same area as you are Mla973, and unfortunately I was very disappointed.

We didn't like it at all. We thought it was overpriced for the meal we got. If you are looking for a buffet there are much better ones on the WDW property. Also I'm from Atlanta if that makes a difference.

I agree with those who say, two couples can do much better. Flying Fish comes to mind. The quality of food doesn't compare. Of course, it's not a buffet though. Have a great trip!

I searched the site over for the recipe and didn't find it, could someone pinpoint exactly where it is? I did however find a few other's that I'm going to try!
Thanks!

Our family enjoyed it when we went. Seemed to be a good selection for DS4 and the paper tableclothes that the kids could draw on were a big hit. DH and I will be in the World in Feb. and we won't be going back just because there's different places we want to try - WITHOUT THE KIDS!!

We were disappointed also. The quality if fiid definetly depended on catching when they brought a fresh batch out - but this is out of your control. We will not return
