I have ADR for Cape May for DH and me to take my DD12 in a couple of weeks. We are not big on seafood, but booked Cape May because I noticed they had other types of food as well (and we get a DVC discount). Now I've noticed the 1900 Park Fare character dinner at GF and wondered if anyone has eaten at both and could help me decide which DD12 would enjoy more (the character part is really not a deciding factor). Thanks for your tips!

I've been for breakfast to both; i've had great meals at each place; however, i would have to say that cape may had a wider variety of breakfast foods; also, the characters (mickey, minnie, donald, goofy) were dressed in beack attire and really interacted a lot with the guests.
so, cape may is my choice; but you really can't go wrong with either one!!:thumbsup2

I haven't been to Cape May so I can't say anything about it. We do love 1900PF however, I believe it will be relocated when you are there (also when we are there in Sept.) Here are the affected dates, and info, from allearsnet.com.
UPDATE: The Grand Floridian Resort's 1900 Park Fare will close for refurbishment Monday, July 9, 2007, through Monday, October 1, 2007, and is scheduled to reopen October 2, 2007. During this time, the Grand Floridian Cafe will become the site for both the "Supercalifragilistic Breakfast" and "Cinderella's Gala Feast." These will both be character meals, but NOT buffets (as they are at 1900 Park Fare) -- they will be pre-plated character meals.

So I would stay will CM. But try PF another time when it returns to it's regular operation. We really enjoy the food there. :goodvibes

Thanks for the responses - I knew 1900 PF was being refurbished, but thought it was later - guess that settles that. We are going for dinner, not breakfast, so not too concerned there are no characters at Cape May. Will have to give my own review after we give it a try!

We love the food at Cape May and I am not a seafood person...they did not have much seafood just peel and eat shrimp, clam chowder, steamed clams and mussels and the catch of the day.

I can remember them having:

all kinds of fixings for a salad or caesar salad
potato salad
macaroni salad
tomato bisque soup
fruit salad
ambrosia
cole slaw
marinated mushrooms
marinated tomatoes
corn on the cob
boiled potatoes
carved beef
mini hot dogs
chicken fingers
macaroni and cheese
all types of breads and rolls
corn bread
broccolini
string beans with carrots
mashed potatoes
baked ziti
bbq ribs
roasted chicken
bbq beef with mushrooms
sausage peppers and onions
french fries

Dessert Table:

Oreo Bon Bons
Mini cheesecakes
apple crisp
key lime tarts
german chocolate cake bites
flan
strawberry mousse layered thing
tollhouse cookies
sugar cookies
oatmeal cookies
brownies
blondies with peanut butter chips

We have eaten there a few times and it is great!
