Cape May buffet dinner question

On a current menu on Deb's site it says that there is "Hand-Carved Prime Rib of Beef with au jus..." at the carving station at the Cape May dinner buffet. I thought I had read lately reports that they were now serving flank steak instead of prime rib. Has anyone been there lately? I know it sounds nitpicky but my family's choice of buffets will be the one with prime rib.

I think it depends on the day of the week and the phase of the Moon.

Was at Cape May in March. I asked the server about the Prime Rib and he said it was replaced by flank steak a few months prior. :( They also now put the steamed clams in some sort of garlic sauce people weren't too thrilled with.

The fish and chips they served was delicious as was the rest of the buffet. There's a separate dessert bar area near the podium which had a large variety of goodies.

Thank you Scottwdw. My family eats steak but aren't fond of flank steak. If we go to a buffet with prime rib we will get our money's worth.

We were there a few weeks ago for dinner. It is now flank steak. DH had just a small portion - he said it was good, but missed the prime rib.
The clams weren't in garlic when we were there - but the shrimp were. We liked when the shrimp were just cold peel and eat shrimp instead.
Still thought it was a great buffet - and would go again!

This buffet often gets called one of WDW's best bargains. I'm sure they are trying to avoid an increase in price, by serving the flank steak instead of prime rib.

We love this one, however. Have an Oreo bon-bon for me!

Also just to note, they serve very tiny servings of this steak. It was almost comical. My DH is a big meat and potato guy and they served him like 3 tiny little slices. Of course you can always go back for more~which he did! :teeth:
We found everything else to be very good and the dessert offerings were just awesome!

I didn't even notice the steak switch when I was there a few weeks ago. While I ordinarily love a good steak, when I am at Cape May, all I can see is the clam chowder and the clams! To me, these are the best anywhere. I think that the 'sauce' that was mentioned is just some of the garlicky water that the clams are steamed in...sometimes they pour some over the clams in the serving dish, I guess to keep them moist. Other times there is barely any, and I miss that extra garlic! I LOVE Cape May Cafe...if you like seafood, I think it's the best value 'all you can eat' on property. :Pinkbounc
