any info/reviews of cape coral would be elcome. We have ented fab vila on the river for a week after we DO disney!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all info e restaurants activities boat hire etc really welcome.

We rented a villa here for six nights on our last trip in October 2002, so I'd be happy to answer any questions

Our favourite spot was Matlacha where we ate a couple of times at a place called Cap'n Con's which looked pretty hokey, but served great food! We also went out on a sailboat from here with Captain Hugh Cross - this was one of the absolute highlights from our two weeks. We had dolphins playing under the boat on the way over to Cabbage Key, where we had a quick drink in the Cabbage Key Inn to add our dollar bill to the walls, then we watched the sunset as we sailed back to Matlacha. Quite magical .

Off the top of my head, I can remember we also visited the Ding Darling Nature Reserve on Sanibel (good), ate at the Bubble Room on Captiva (a riot) and spent all of five minutes on Bowman's Beach (too hot)! We visited the Four Mile Cove Ecological Park at Cape Coral, but weren't too excited with this one.

Thanks foryour response Hilary. I have used the link and found it and your suggestions really helpful. Whilst you were there did you rent a boat or see any boat rental places?

No, we didn't rent a boat. I'm sure there must have been lots of places where you could pick one up, but I don't actually recall seeing any. I'll ask DH if he can remember anywhere as he's more in tune with that kind of thing!

The villa we rented included a 'fishing boat' - we really didn't know what to expect, but it turned out to be a folding canvas type, rather like a welsh coracle. It was big enough for DH and his fishing rod to pootle up and down the waterway, and it was fairly easy to launch from the end of the back garden, but all our 'neighbours' seemed to have luxury 30' motor cruisers!
