Cape Coral Trip

My wife and I are heading down for 2 weeks next year (starting the weekend after Thanksgiving 2016). We have a place booked in Cape Coral and then we head over to Disney for the second week.

This will be our first time staying in the Cape Coral area (we are renting a house from HomeAway). We are on one of the canals with a private pool. We plan on doing the Mystery Train dinner in Fort Meyers and doing a tour of the everglades. Right now I am looking at Wooten's Airboats for the everglades tour.

Anyone with any experience in the area? Looking for suggestions on things to do, places to eat, and recommendations on the airboat tour of the everglades,

It is just my wife and I (in our 40's).

Hey Joe! I actually live in Cape Coral (moved from NH). There are a ton of outdoor activities in the area, especially on Pine Island. You can take a ferry to Cayo Costa for the day (island state park with beautiful beach) or take a kayak or paddleboard tour. Look on Groupon and Living Social for discounts on these activities! This year it was still in the high 80s at the end of November. Fishing is VERY popular and there are plenty of guides willing to take you out. Lots of good small local restaurants (many chain restaurants too!) There is a Facebook group called SWFL Foodies that can give you plenty of ideas. The Ford and Edison winter estates in Fort Myers decorate really nicely for Christmas and there is a Haunted History tour in downtown Fort Myers that is alot of fun too! Very cool, thanks. We are not really the athletic type but do love animals and nature. Any reccomendations on tours of the everglades? Also any local attractions or things like the Mystery Train we are considering?
