pixiedust: I know it's a bit harsh, but I'm so happy to be going to DL (this spring) or WDW (this fall) that it's hard to keep reading about people that aren't happy because they didn't get dreamed. Or they are trying to game the system to make sure they get dreamed.

I would be thrilled to get dreamed, but I'm not changing my plans, or my trip to try to do that. It's supposed to be spur of the moment, random, etc.

So feel to flame away. I'm not planning on getting dreamed, so I don't have a problem if you give me anti-pixie dust for my trip.pixiedust:

I've gotten ears twice and that's it. I personally don't think it's a very successful promotion. So few people get anything that it isn't realistic to think you're going to get something; and I think people realize that.

I think they've given the cast members more power to do fun stuff---we got Tink pins one day while buying cotton candy and it was really neat. I think it is fun, but I can understand the other point of view as well. Of course, we weren't expecting it and I would have had fun, Tink pin or no, but it was nice to have an extra "something"---I think that's the magic of the promotion.

Good word :) I was starting to get caught up in the "What the heck?" about all the dreams. I've been 7 times since the promo started last year and haven't even seen people getting dreamed. I've seen the prizes, but that's it. I just have to keep a perspective that DL is DL and it's fun always. That's not why I go anyways...Who knows? Maybe they'll go for year 3....what do you all think about that?

We saw people with dream fast passes on our last trip, but I thought it was a bit silly because lines weren't very long to begin with. Dream fast passes would be great in the summer or during holiday periods with lots of crowds, but doesn't seem to make much sense during slower times. I know they give other prizes, too, but those aren't as visible. :confused3 I think the promotion goes through the end of 2008, doesn't it?

We've been so many times since July of last year. That's when we got AP's. Anyway, we've been about once a month since September of '07 and been dreamed twice.....and both times we got the Tink pins. LOL Different styles but still......we've been thrilled both times and while we always wish/hope to get a big dream we are never unhappy when it doesn't happen to us. We just love going and don't let not getting dreamed get us down.

That's definitely not how I feel!

Sure I get frustrated by seeing one woman with her baby go over and get 4 dream ears from the team, then my hubby takes our stroller over there (DS, the woman's DH, the woman's other DS, and I were all riding Dumbo at the same time) and they told him the whole party had to be together. That's frustrating! Sure I went walking along paths I had heard they roam around on.

But I remain hopeful that the short-term DVC membership will be mine, mine, all mine (and my family's) before the YOAMD is over! :goodvibes

I also send in 3 postcards per mail day (well, when I remember to do it) in hopes of winning even when I'm not at the parks.

I was so sad when the first YOAMD was ending, b/c we hadn't won anything! So I was glad when it was extended.

We definitely have different feelings on it. ::yes::

I realize that it is random but I get to go to the parks in WDW a lot and have never won anything. When we went to DL in Feb. daughter was in the parks 5 days and didn't get anything.

We wished we would get the new ears hat but that was not to be. It didn't ruin our trip but did hope for a little magic.

We didn't receive any big dreams but DD loved getting a fast pass for Space Mountain, a Sleeping Beauty Gibbit for her Crocs and she drove on the Jungle Cruise. She thought it was magic. I think that's the point. She received all of those just for having fun and enjoying herself. She never tried to get anything which I think amde it even more special. I of course was hoping for the Dream Suite or DVC but that's what it's like to be a jaded adult!

I don't think anyone is going to flame you. Probably most people in the park aren't even aware of the promotion. It is fun to win, but it isn't the be all and end all of the trip. Now, that being said, if I won the cruise, I would be in seventh heaven!:cool1:

I hate the YOMD. I was so so so sad to hear that they were bringing it back this year. Yea, some things are kind of cool, but I think 1 year was enough. I hope they don't decided to end up making it 3 years of a million dreams.

Considering more than a million people go to Disneyland in a given year, many dreams go unfulfilled. What a stupid promotion.

People's first instinct when someone approaches them and tries to give them something is to decline whatever it is because they think that person is selling something. They may have been to Universal, where you are barraged with credit card applications before and after you enter the park.

Then you've got the regulars who stalk the Dream Squad trying to predict where they'll be. So you've got a massive audience of people who don't know or understand what this promotion is all about, and a vocal few who know too much about it. The Dream Squad has their work cut out for them.

When does it end?

We all HOPED it would end at the end of 2007, but no..they dragged it out for another year...We used to get multiple fast passes with AAA but they took those away when YOAMD started.

The way I understand it is that the enhanced fast pass either isn't much different, or isn't different, from the way any of us can experience FP now. For normal folk who didn't buy their tix through AAA before, one could ONLY hold one FP at a time, until the time for the FP was gone. But after the enhanced AAA FP went away, they opened the 2 hour timeframe for regular folk to get another FP.

Since I was just buying one day one park (silly silly me) tickets during that time, I couldn't use AAA for the tix, and was quite jealous of those tickets. But now I'm not. :)

I really fail to see why people are unhappy about YOAMD just because they didn't get dreamed.... Obviously not everyone can get dreamed, in fact only a very very small percentage can get dreamed so go into the park not expecting to be dreamed and that way you won't be disappointed. For me I would rather some chance as opposed to no chance should they stop it. Sorry but it all sounds a little like sour grapes to me.......

Some people are unhappy with the promotion because they didn't get anything and some aren't. Myself, I couldn't care less whether I get a prize or not. If I were offered a stay in the Disney Dream Suite I would decline because I disagree with the decision to close the Disney Gallery.

I just think it's a bad promotion.

I salute your beliefs and your preparation to stand up for them. :thumbsup2
